I made the mistake of visiting my local Kawasaki/Suzuki fun store. They had a used Ducati 959 for $2k over its original sticker. The new primer gray/cement color for the GSX-R1000R is even worse looking in real life. They had two Hayabusa motos. It seemed ever so slightly smaller than the previous Gen but the new bodywork might just make it look smaller. I’m still getting used to the side fairings and tail. I was really hoping for more, oh well. On a positive note the basically unchanged DRZ400SM was looking quite tempting. I really need to take advantage of this mental market and ditch my BMW and scoop up a DRZ super moto. I got the parts I needed for my Suzuki ordered and left feeling quite frustrated at the current state of the industry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Old age is making me consider a more civilized R1250GS over my current S1000R crotch rocket. But prices are just stupid now. My bike is paid for, low-maint. and the acceleration is more addictive than heroin. So I'll stay put until a better situation arises.

There were actual new motorcycles for sale there? I have to get parts for the race bikes on a regular basis and I haven't seen a new motorcycle on the showroom floor that wasn't marked with a sold tag for a year or more... Luckily for me, I have some in personal inventory so I don't actually need anything... “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

One of my Beemers is a ‘94, R1100RS. Red, beautiful and loves going fast. Got a ticket first time I took it out three years ago. I don’t need a fast bike any more. For me more fun is had at 35mph on a quiet back country road on my ‘67 R50.

The bad news is dealers are typically asking msrp plus freight. Sometimes a couple hundred "set up" as well. The good news is the value of your bike is higher than ever, so if you trade it more or less evens out. I recently priced a Moto Guzzi V85 Adventure at a volume MG/Aprilia dealer that had probably 30 Guzzi's in stock and 60 Aprilias and Vespas. They were msrp plus $800 freight and set up. I ended up buying from Kissel who discounted the V85 demo he had and no freight or set up, and offered me just $1,500 less for my Africa Twin than I paid for it new two years ago. They had a *lot* of new bikes in stock, mostly BMW's but also Guzzi's, Aprilias, Urals, a couple Zeros, and a slew of used bikes. When I commented on their nice inventory he said "heck we're low, we sold 60 bikes in the last two weeks, I really need clean trades. I took a few pics which show only part of their inventory. And my new V85TT once home. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Those Aprilia motos are gorgeous. Someone in my city has a V4 Aprilia with a race exhaust that sounds like a pro street hot rod with a nasty as hell cam. When I heard it fire up I looked around for a hot rod and was shocked to see that mean as hell sound was coming from a bike. The V4 Ape is near the top of my list of sportbikes. A few years ago my R1 sort of sobered me up but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit how tempted I am by Aprilia’s beautiful RSV4. Aprilia’s and Suzuki’s bikes with the MotoGP colors are just exquisite. My next bike will probably not be one of those but is more likely going to be a Monkey, Grom or Supermoto. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

The new HD models are out, the CVO (top of the line) models MSRP in the $40's and dealers are asking $50's plus. Limited production and supply. Same for many other popular models, trade numbers are higher, but so are MSRP bump stickers, you might find a model that isn't bumped that's not as popular. These things take chips as well, and demand for motorcycles is way up, Bike Week is in Daytona starting March 4th, imagine it will be packed this year.

The BMW shops in my area have decent selection of new bikes and from what I've seen the bikes aren't marked above MSRP. I'm looking at a 2022 BMW S1000XR priced at a little over 21K and I'm hoping my dealership will discount the bike by 500 bucks since this will be the 5th new BMW I've purchased from them since 2014. Prices are crazy everywhere so if you're surprised by the price of bikes don't go into a car dealership.

I went back to pick up a few parts for my Suzuki and got an out the door quote for the 2022 DRZ400SM. Just barely under $10,000 for a new DRZ Supermoto?!?!?! Yeah I don’t think I’ll be pulling the trigger on the DRZ this week. They had the white one in their warehouse too (which I think I like a little more). Stock pic of the white colors. I snapped a pic of the odd new color for the gixxer one thousand. They had a decent inventory. This came in recently. The new Hayabusa is slowly growing on me. So I was wrong about the Ducati pricing. It’s only a few hundred OVER ITS ORIGINAL 2019 MSRP. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Like the retor Kawi and the White Duc, Bike week starts Friday, be interesting to see what's going on in the moto world with vendors, customers this year. last couple of course were down, vendors lower, etc. Thinking it's going to be very well attended as weather looks good for the week. Beer, Bikinis (gals only please) and Bikes..

Local dealer has a white DRZ400 SM and I'd be surprised if they asked over $8,300 including freight and doc, but plus state tax. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

The Z650RS looks fun. Not the most inspiring noise out of the 650cc P-Twin, but its a fun motor in the Vulcan S. 10k rpm in a cruiser. The Enemy's gate is down.

RideWV, if you are at the dealer any time soon would you mind asking them their out the door price. $8400 would be something I would seriously entertain. The local prices are just too much for me to give into the temptation. It also gives me some ammunition for negotiations should my local fun store actually show a bit of interest in negotiation with their ludicrous offer. I did a little research on the appreciation of my BMW R1150GS and I believe it will soon be leaving my garage to make way for a DRZ super moto. My daughter is going to be pissed to see “her” motorcycle leave the collection but I think she would get over it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

I wish they had done a little better with the radiator but the Z650 is pretty sweet.

I too, have gotten an itch for a new bike. My Daytona 675R is just fine on track but I am clearly not good enough to pass the liter bikes as easily as I would like to. So, that sweet sounding RSV4 is really looking good but prices!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face" - Mike Tyson
