BisleyblackhawkThis is the way it starts...a peanut butter craving right before bedtime...
It's like 10:30 and you say to yourself..."self, "A" peanut butter cracker sounds nice...let's make ONE"...
You stand at the sink eating the ONE you made (no sense getting cracker crumbs all over the recliner or the floor you just swept)...
Then you say "those five peanut butter Premium saltine crackers were so good...I'll bet a Ritz cracker with peanut butter would be better...so you stand at the sink and eat one...or five...maybe seven...
Then you start "mainlining" the skippy without the cracker, using a table knife...
When the table knife just doesn't cut it...you swap to the spoon and continue...
Until the contents of the jar is scraped clean and is no more...
Then you are feeling sad as well as guilty...
And you go to bed wanting more

Goodnight all

tatortoddMy company visiting for the holidays was snoring loudly in front of the TV and slept right through me having the last slice of peanut butter pie. It was delicious! I would’ve had more if there was more left.

flashguyI fairly often eat PB out of the jar with a spoon. It's a relatively carbo free meal (commercial PB does have some sugar).

cparktdI understand completely!
Some might think it odd but my version is...
Peanut butter, crackers, slices of Colby-Jack Cheese and ....Olives.
Now that a late might snack!
When dating my wife ~40 years ago...
One night, I saw her into the house around 11 PM and her DAD was at the table eating peanut butter.
He asked if I wanted some... I politely declined but then he said, "It's pretty good, I call it SEX fuel"

He had 6 kids so I guess it worked for him but I didn't quite know how to take that!
I made a quick exit...

TBHI came home from work one afternoon and walked in the house. My two boys were giggling in one of their bedrooms. I opened the door, and found both of them feeding our golden peanut butter. They were laughing from watching her trying to get the peanut butter off the roof of her mouth with her tongue.

Reduced fat peanut butter is a scam. The fat and oils in peanut butter are part of what make it so beneficial to you. Stop buying that low fat garbage. Go natural if you feel you need to change from the normal Jiff or Skippy, but even those are better than the reduced fat variety.

PHPaulBrand me a heretic, but peanut butter is a sad substitute for the Real Thing. For me, one of the sadder aspects of getting old is my inability to digest peanuts.
There was a time, not all that long ago, that I'd buy a can of Spanish Redskins, pop it open and throw the cover away as I knew full well there'd be no need for that.
Now I can't even eat a handful without being miserable for hours.
I CAN get away with the occasional stick of celery smeared with PB, and a PBJ if I spread the PB REAL thin.
It's a cruel world...

egregoreI have a theory or belief that a food craving is to satisfy a nutrition need that your body is lacking. You see this a lot in pregnant women.

That's damn straight. Just as there is "good" and "bad" cholesterol and "good" and "bad" holster wear on your guns, there is good and bad fat.

justsiginI also love Peanut Butter at night, from a jar, on a cracker or straight.
I'm not alone in my struggle....
