I haven't sold a gun in about ten years now and never really did figure out how to get the most money out of them. I'm at a point where I have guns I haven't shot in years and see no need to keep. I haven't sold them yet because I don't know how to sell them for what they are worth. I am looking for advice in how to do that.

I won't post what firearms I am selling here on the forum and I won't link to gunbroker.

I am selling a mix of pistols and rifles, accessories and ammo. My questions are pretty general really.

1. Selling a rifle and multiple magazines: is it better to sell the rifle with the 2 mags it comes with and sell the additional magazines separately or to package all the magazines with the rifle?

2. Selling a hunting rifle with a low-mid range scope: should I package the rifle with the scope or sell the scope separately?

3. Shipping a rifle or pistol: the last time I shipped a pistol it cost me a lot of money, eay over the $40 charge most people list as their shipping rates in their ads. Where should I look for inexpensive shipping of pistols, rifles and accessories?

Use gunbroker as a tool to see what the firearms you have are selling for. You can view closed auctions. After that, I would recommend selling locally or letting a local gun store do bulk sale for you for a cut.

Have you thought about offering them for sale on SIGforum?

You could maybe cruise gunbroker to see what those models have been going for. Or check the Blue Book.

I'm in a similar boat in that I have a few pistols that I haven't shot in years and I am feeling no reason to keep them.

I sold one pistol about 10 years ago. It ended up being a FTF transaction at a local FFL, he paid cash so it was as easy as it could be. I have a feeling I won't be so lucky this time.

I asked my favorite LGS what it would cost to ship a pistol to another FFL and they said it's $50 to ship it.

I'd rather not put them on consignment.

They may be special to you, but they are only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. Set the price too high and no one bids. Set a reasonable price and if the GB viewers are interested they will bid-up the selling price.

IMO include all magazines at a fair price, but sell your scope separately.

As was already said, I would not sell on Gunbroker if you can avoid it. If you can find a local forum where you can meet in person you can save the hassle of shipping. If I was going to sell online I would list them here.

I typically offer the gun and two mags with it, then I add a line in the FS ad that I have additional mags I will sell at a discount to the buyer of the gun. I typically discount that price even further if they buy in bulk. I buy a lot of mags for my guns so it is not uncommon for me to have 10-20 extras though. If the buyer of the gun doesn't want the mags I create a new ad to sell those. I like to give the buyer of the gun first shot at the mags so I won't sell them until the gun sells. When I've sold like that here I typically get a few people who say they will buy the mags if the gun buyer doesn't so I typically sell the mags pretty quickly after the gun anyway.

I do the same with holsters usually and any extras I paid decent money for. If I have a set of grips I paid a hundred bucks for I am taking those off and putting the factory grips on, then offering the aftermarket grips just like I do with the mags. Small spare parts like springs and stuff I just include with the gun sale.

Depending on the price of the scope I would probably want to package the two together, but I would likely do the same as with the mags. Offer a price for the rifle with and without scope.

My LGS will ship guns for me and that is cheaper than me doing it by myself. Maybe ask a local store if they will do the same for you.

Cheap scope, leave it on the gun. Mid to expensive scope, sell it seperately.

This is exactly what I am after. Thank you. The last time I sold a gun on gunbroker - abiut 10 years ago - I took a bath on shipping.

For me part of the appeal of gunbroker is the bid process. I want to get what the market will bear but I don't know exactly what that is. While my preference would be to sell locally and avoid ahipping costs my area (greater Kansas city) won't necessarily get me the best offers.

I think what I will do is post on GB and note the area I live in and offer to meet at an LGS (if in MO) to make the transfer.

I would sell the mags separately as you stated, 2 with the rifle.
