21 bubba I agree I have never heard anything about the firing order. As for the Viper in the photo it is a 1997 the exhaust is out the back and it has the loopy cam. I would never want to drive a car like this with an automatic. Yes it is mine.

it depends on what year it is for me. Most of them sound like a UPS truck. There was so many complaints that they eventually changed the firing order which helped it immensely.
Who told you that? As a viper owner for 20 years I've never heard such nonsense

Best I can tell, it has always been 1-10-9-4-3-6-5-8-7-2.

Not sure about the UPS truck, although I feel like we are getting the same fuel economy. Big Grin

1967 Chevy 9 passenger wagon, 6 cyl, 3 in the tree, no power anything.First lesson was in a cow pasture, facing uphill. Lessons would commence when I could get up the hill from a standing start and no roll-back. Took a while but my left leg was shaking so badly I could barely walk.

Have not owned a vehicle with an automatic transmission for 24 years. I hope that does not change for another 24 years or more.

What a fantastic thread. Thank you for it.
Have never bought an automatic, except for my wife and my kids.
Currently drive a 6 speed WRX, and a seven speed 911. Six seems too few.
My kids, now in their mid 30’s, really want to learn a stick. I wish I could find a manual rental vs taking the chance of burning out the WRX.

Sort of off-topic: in a previous job I worked for an automotive components manufacturer. My career there involved several trips to Detroit. One particular trip ended me up in the Chrysler tech center for a day. I was on an upper floor just waiting for the next meeting when I heard an unbelievable sound. I looked over the rail to the first floor of the atrium and a saw Viper rumbling across the floor. Echoing around that building, the sound was absolutely amazing. Cool
