This Sums Up Californians Who Flee The State

Maybe right now. Give the Dim supermajority a year or two and the guy coughing and puking up salt water as he drags his sorry ass out of the surf and crawls onto the beach is probably a closer approximation. Sigh...

I have no idea what this thread is about, but I fled in the early 90's after a hospitalization ended my dream of being on the SJPD. Oh well.

I fled to TN after I retired from the ACSO. I tell Tennesseeans "I escaped California". It helps that I am more right wing than most Southerners. (Grew up in Northern CA....) love it here and have NO DESIRE to turn it into CA.

We are out between 1.5 to 6.5 years. My full retirement will be at 6.5 years. With the way this state is going, I'm thinking we will be popping smoke sooner.

I have not knowingly voted for a Democrat, or any progressive policies. Voted against every single bond issue and tax. Voted against the open primary, but that passed and has fucked things up, because most times we have the choice of two turds. I write my name in for these races.

What he's saying is that a Californian RIGHT NOW leaving the state will be able to step off the mast with Jack Sparrow's swagger and panache. He's not been beaten down and raped by the gov't.

But in a couple of years, with (I assume) a Democratic supermajority in the CA legislature, that escapee will more closely resemble a shipwreck survivor dragging himself ashore.

Yep. Not that California hasn't been shooting itself in the foot for a while. Notice the crow's nest he's stepping off of - that ship has been sinking for a while and is still sinking.

Not just them, people who flee NY/NJ to Florida are doing the same thing. People who flee Chicago for Phoenix and Dallas are doing the same thing. It’s a damn shame.

I left California, first for NV, then AZ and finally here. (For reasons other than politics, which were bad in 2003, but not terrible yet.) But I always "bloom where I'm planted."

Basically; when there moves here, here become there. And mostly, those who move here bring all their BS and liberal, socialist, communist, democrat crap with them. This is why we in Virginia are at odds now with all the crap that moved here from the northeast, Maryland and DC. These democrats are a cancer to everyplace they live and work.

You know, I keep seeing this assertion. Conservatives that leave a place that’s turning into a socialist shithole don’t suddenly start voting for socialist shithole policies in their new home state. I never have.

Now, old hippies and “woke” types will always vote for their policies. I know a number of people here in Washington that came from California, Colorado, and Florida who brought their “progressive” votes with them.

See? Two sides to it. You guys gotta stop shunning gun owners who move to your state because they escaped a socialist shithole that was going down. We might oughta stick together on this issue.

I agree with you, P220, but Florida isn't turning purple because north-eastern gun owners are moving here. It's turning purple because big city liberals from the north east are fleeing high taxes, and bringing their regulationist ideas to our low tax environment. They don't want the low regulation low tax environment we offer. They want a high regulation low tax environment that they see as the perfect eco-system for their comfort.

I'll welcome every north eastern gun owning conservative who wants to come here. Bring 'em on! But if you want to re-create Boston without the Massachusetts legislature taxing you to death, stay the hell out. We already have Miami and Tampa (23rd and 40th most liberal cities in the country), damnit, we don't need more of that shit.

I see that image as illustrating illegals.

The sinking vessel is the country of origin of the illegal. They are heading into California.

Sparrow had no permission to enter Port Royal. He had to bribe the King's man on the dock to get onto dry land.

He then stole tax money from the king, via the purse he took from the King's representative's desk.

He gets ashore and promptly heads off to steal something (a new ship).

He is discovered and taken into custody for prior crimes deserving of hanging.

He takes up arms, which is an illegal act given he is under the death penalty.

He kidnaps the girl as part of his escape.

He then breaks into the business of a local craftsman, attempts to bribe him, and when that works, tries to fight the sword maker.

He is captured again.

He convinces the sword maker to free him from custody, again, whereupon he sets off to commit piracy.
