...for having the courage to stand up to the leaders of the Hollywood Communist Universe. He seems like a really good guy, and one of the few people in Hollywood with any common sense or objectivity. I'd love to shake his hand.

Jon Voight declares Trump 'greatest president since Abraham Lincoln'

It's funny- I had always assumed Jon Voight was a typical Hollywood lefty, due to his appearance opposite Jane Fonda in Hal Ashby's Coming Home (a role which won him an Oscar for best actor), but apparently this is not so.

Voight's breakout role was in Midnight Cowboy but I've always found it such a depressing film to watch. I first saw him in Deliverance. Voight usually plays moral characters, such as his role as a teacher in Conrack. If you haven't seen this film, you should. He can also play amoral characters such as his portrayal of Lt. Milo Minderbinder in the 1970 theatrical version of Heller's Catch-22, as well as complete SOBs such as lawyer Leo Drummond in The Rainmaker.

Voight even had a turn as Captain Woodrow F. Call, albeit in the illegitimate "sequel" to Lonesome Dove. Still, he did a great job in the role.

I guess an Oscar win sustains you for a long time in Hollywood, because lesser actors with similar political views would have been pushed out of Holywood long ago.

So, here's to Jon Voight, fighting the good fight for this nation, behind enemy lines.

From the day of President Trump's inauguration. I love how the Hollywood bim asks him how the President can raise his popularity with people and Voight politely tells her "He's already very popular with a lot of people" (as evidenced by the fact that the man had just won the Presidency against all- and I do mean all odds).

Amen to Jon Voight. I would like to believe that there are more centrists and conservatives in Hollywood. However I think the fat checks keep their mouths shut though.

His age, stature and financial well being allow him to thumb his nose at the commie culture in Hollyweird. It must enrage the hive mind out there on the coasts.

I remember reading years ago that Voight had abandoned his original liberal political views of the 60s and 70 in later years, and went full conservative largely due to Obama's ascent in presidential politics. He, along with James Woods, is one of the very few in Hollywood who vocally supports Trump. He was recently appointed by Trump to the Kennedy Centers board, along with Mike Huckabee (father of Sarah Sanders). Apparently that pissed off a lot of the folks in the "arts" Big Grin

It'd be nice if some of his political leanings would rub off on his daughter, Angelina.

Great actor that has his head on right politically. I'll always stop down to catch a Jon Voight movie.

Add me to the list. Though he played a small part, I thought he was excellent in Heat.

Bravo Mr. Voight.

He's like Trump himself in that both are highly accomplished, very rich, and in the "golden years" of their lives. It would be so easy for either of them to just... luxuriate. Instead, they both enter the fray. Ditto James Woods.

They all deserve an appreciation day. Here's to Jon Voight! Salud!
