He died doing something approximating what he loved.

Asshole

I love this part:
quote:
Investigators believe Lucidi fell to his death from a ledge of the penthouse apartment building he entered earlier in the day, telling security he was there to visit a friend on the building's 40th floor. CCTV footage from the building showed he instead left the elevator on the 49th floor and used stairs to access the top floor of the skyscraper. Police say a worker at a penthouse apartment on the building's 68th floor reported that Lucidi had knocked on the window of the apartment around 7:30 p.m. Thursday and requested to be let inside, but the worker was suspicious and instead called authorities.
The 68th floor. What, did they think he was trying to break in?? Big Grin

The douchebag had time to think of his poor life choices before impact.

If there's video it would be the ultimate social media post. Too bad he could only do it once.

Well, clearly he needed to practice more.

Or possibly less.

When I was in the broadcast engineering biz, we would get a call about every other year from the cops or our general manager saying someone had jumped the fence and climbed one of the towers. Got old real quick.

But back in those days people actually got arrested for trespass.

Clearly, he misunderstood the gravity of his situation.

Despite his skill high up, he was still very attracted to the ground.

The results of my limited creativity from one PBR ‘pounder’ -

There once was a daredevil named Lucidi
Who liked to climb tall buildings in big cities
He went to Hong Kong in search of fame
And everyone would soon know his name
But Lucidi fell and people said “Oh what a pity.”

I did not like him at the time but now I wish we had old man Mayor Dailey back, he knew how to handle this stuff. From his shoot to kill order during the Democratic Convention riots to the way he handled our own skyscraper climber Spider Dan.
Let the climber climb a 100+ story building and reward him with the Chicago Fire Dept hitting him with fire hoses while clinging to the side.

It one thing to do this kind of stupid stuff but the need to post the stupidity online is what ultimately killed him.
