I started carrying one back when I was a young policeman, a buck 110. No pocket clips back in those days that I knew of, so either buy the sheath that fit on your gunbelt or put it in your back pocket next to your wallet. The latter was my preference. Later, after carrying various pocket knives as a still young prosecutor, I went to a gun show and saw a Benchmade 940 and bought it for $105 out the door IIRC. It had the pocket clip and I carried it that way until just a couple of years ago. I used my knife many times during the day for a bunch of things and was pretty dependent on it. I noticed how beat up it was a year+ ago and sent it off to be Cera-coated. I carried various ZTs while it was gone, then when it came back I really didn't like it-so I sold it. But I had liked the 940 and agonized over a new one. Was, as many are, angry at Benchmade for their anti-antics so a couple of weeks ago I broke down and bought one from a guy over in Tampa. I'd tried and failed to buy several used on Blade Forums so I just got the new one. It's perfect but I still don't like giving any any support to BM-but, I may have done so-not sure. He's a guy on Ebay who buys knives somewhere (mine is real) and sells them so I hope BM got none of the proceeds. Bob

No Knife, No Life......Besides, how else can you "demonstrate" the effectiveness of the Filipino Martial Arts on some poor thug? Using a rolled up magazine is too Jason Bourne.

Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
“So, who are the kind of men who carry pocket knives today? They are typically utilitarian. They are the type of men who work hard for a living, fix what is broken, and stand fearless in the face of a world full of evil. To put it simply, they are the type of men that I feel this world needs more of. If you find yourself in a tight spot and need some help, just ask the guy with the pocket knife. Although they are few and far between these days, chances are he can and will be able to help you out.” ~Unknown Very timely thread. I usually have a gun, but I ALWAYS have a knife. I came across the above just the other day on the “How to Dad” FB page right after my adult son asked if I had a knife (yes) and could he borrow it while we were putting in laminate at his house. When I asked why he doesn’t carry one, he said it scratches his phone What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

If the jugular is cleanly severed, it is unlikely that the individual will get to a vascular surgeon in time for the surgeon to attempt a repair.

I have had a knife on me most of the time since I was a kid, still do. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Simplest answer is to cut things. Always have two on me, sometimes three. Still boyscouting. "The days are stacked against what we think we are." Jim Harrison

My ex-roommate asked me a couple of times why I carry a gun. I told her "Because you never know what's going to happen. You just never fucking know." She never asked why I carry a knife, but she did ask to borrow it pretty regularly.
