Time to replace the old box, and while shopping for a new one many brands feature LED ramp-up "theater" style lighting. Strikes me that is just another gimmick that will need to be fixed.

Any experience with these? GEs seem to have a high number of negative reviews re this feature. Other brands more reliable?
