Democrat Andrew Gillum — the former mayor of Tallahassee, Florida — will enter rehab and step away from public life after being found unconscious in a Miami hotel room with a gay escort/porn star who overdosed on crystal meth.

In a statement Sunday, Gillum announced: “I have made the decision to seek help, guidance and enter a rehabilitation facility at this time. This has been a wake-up call for me. Since my race for governor ended, I fell into a depression that has led to alcohol abuse.”

The failed gubernatorial candidate continued: “I am committed to doing the personal work to heal fully and show up in the world as a more complete person. I now need to firmly focus on myself and my family. I will be stepping down from all public facing roles for the foreseeable future.”


Gillum’s rehab announcement came two days after he apologized for being found unconscious from what police speculated was a “possible drug overdose.” According to the police report, “clear plastic baggies containing suspected crystal meth” were found in Gillum’s hotel room.

On Friday, Andrew Gillum insisted that he was not a drug addict after social media exploded with reports that he had been partying with gay escort (and self-prescribed porn star) Travis Dyson.

At the time, Gillum claimed he was in Miami to attend a wedding, and that police were called to “assist one of my friends.”

Dyson later denied that he was a “friend” of Gillum’s and pointed out that he was a gay escort. Gillum is married to a woman, with whom he has three children.

Owens remarked: “[Dyson] is an openly gay man, whose public profile has very few photos of him clothed. His sexuality is only relevant because as I said earlier—police suspected they had disrupted a drug/sex party.”

Andrew Gillum, a former mayor, became famous for being a sore loser when he refused to concede to Republican Ron DeSantis, who won the election to become Florida governor in 2018.

Amazingly, Gillum refused to concede even though a machine recount yielded a whopping total of one extra vote for him. The recount reaffirmed initial results showing that Ron DeSantis had clearly won the election.

Gillum’s shocking fall from grace is reminiscent of the sordid polyamorous sex scandal that cost Democrat Katie Hill her Congressional seat.

In October 2019, Kate Hill resigned amid bombshell revelations of her three-way sexual affairs, nude photo leaks and admissions of excessive drinking.
