My wife wants a new TV and I have not bought one since Noah was a pup so I have no idea which one to buy. Any help ya'll could give would be greatly appreciated.

Need more info...is there a particular size you're looking for? Do you need a "smart" tv?

Well, I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. After asking the same question, the common answer was to buy a Samsung. I bought a 4K UHD TV. There's probably something better and cheaper on the market now.
It's a "Smart" TV that was very simple to connect. I have no complaints!

Lord knows I dislike Samsung, but I gotta give 'em this: They make damn fine TVs. I would, however, avoid a "smart" TV. Any smart TV, from any manufacturer.

Unless you're going to go "big," or sit close, you probably don't need 4K. LED is good (that refers to the back-lighting, not the display tech).

I’m an LG fan. I just bought one of their higher end TV’s for my new house. I got the 65 inch and it’s plenty big. The 4K/HDR with true black looks awesome.

TCL tvs get good reviews and are a good value if you are not looking for the latest tech. I like the smart tvs and bought two of them when I ditched dish network.

The TCL tvs are available at wally world.

We bought a 65" Samsung Series 8 when we bought our house to replace the 2010-ish 42" Samsung that was way undersized for our new living room.

Cut the cable/satellite cord shortly after & utilize the built in streaming apps instead.

Very happy with it & would buy again.

Budget?

I bought a 65" Hisense. Budget brand from Sams. 4k and smart apps. I recommend it for a sub $700 tv. Black Friday deals starting already so now is a good time to buy.

I like my Samsung Smart Hub. The ARC and Anynet+ combine nicely with my receiver along with infrared repeater plugged into back of TV to blast to STB in my closet. Best all in one remote I've used. I've tried the fancy expensive all in one's they sucked. My Samsung TV let's me seamlessly switch from Amazon to STB to Chrome cast to whatever all using one very simple remote. I also can steam to TV from phone, computer, laptop, or iThings super easy.

Smart Hub isn't perfect, but it's damn good in its latest iteration.

^^^This. If you haven't bought a new TV in many years, a 2018 TCL will be a huge leap forward, offer you a great 4k picture, go easy on your bank account, and best of all, come with Roku built in. They can also be bought a Costco.

We have a TCL in lieu of a projector in one of our conference rooms.
Works great & the picture is quite good for a 'budget' TV. No appreciable difference that I can immediately tell as compared to TVs costing 2-3x more.

It's a little thicker, physically, and the plastics don't feel as nice, but those are minor things for a good picture without breaking the bank.

The Vizio M series is almost always a great deal. Usually packed with excellent features at a good price.

The E series is a step down and more of a value line.

Vizio makes great TVs at a great price compared to Sony/Samsung

CNET gives the Vizio M65 the best ratings so I bought one. It is pretty incredible.

The next few weeks should bring some of the best sales of the year.

Sony Bravia here. The picture is almost 3d.

I've had OK luck with Vizio, have 2. The fist one was a problem child and had to be replaced, Vizio CS was just OK. Bought my second a couple of weeks ago, seems fine, except the sound is poor, a 32".

We have Dish and I had a tech out to the house updating my system. He told me that Vizios were fine, he sees a lot of them. I mentioned TCL and he said to never buy one.

What will it be used for? Looking for top end new tech or something cheaper? What size? Smart or no?

In have two LGs that I am really happy with now. I am a fan of Sony, but I hate to say my last two Sony Bravias had problems so I abandoned Sony for TVs.

Kind of like asking what is the best handgun, need more specifics like roomsize, budget etc. Start out by going out and looking at picture that appeals to you. Might consider updating sound system also instead of speakers in tv. Listen and look what is out there.

All decent brands, in fact really good.
Get the size and features that suit you and then shop for a deal.
