All the snakes around here hold up in government offices.

This is what we're dealing with in this neck of the woods.

Both my dogs are vaccinated for the most prevalent rattler. My BC also has done avoidance training. The only time we know it worked was when my wife saw a small rattler in the yard and the dog went the other way.
My little dog didn't do avoidance, she's not prone to be as "nosey' as the BC.

Why did a picture just flash in my head of a Husky gnawing on a snake popsicle?

Our border collie is plenty "nosey' and has gotten into skunk, but I haven't seen any rattlers around here.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

We have timber rattlesnakes and copper mouth here in NJ. Both are on the endangered species list. They are typically found in the mountains but I have seen them in the Pine Barrens in S. Jersey where I live.
