New York schools ordered to stay open by DiBlasio

At least he'll be doing something, constantly.

I heard the tool bag (De Blasio) say today all schools closed until April 20th.

My wife works for a school district here in Arizona where they just canceled all classes through the end of March. During the Governors address he said "many families count on our schools for nutrition and health care" so they are going to continue feeding kids.

There is a huge damn problem if public schools are the solution to food and healthcare problems.

Someone snapped him into the narrative.

A good friend is a NYC teacher. Diblasio had to reverse course, the teachers union basically said nobody will come to work if you don't close the schools.

Our district has “grab and go meals.” Come in 10-12, pick up, leave. No forms, no registration, no paperwork. On Friday, there are “Backpack meals” where “low-income students receive a bag of nutritious, easy-to-prepare food on Fridays to last over the weekend. District staff will deliver these bags of food to families who already receive this service.”

They’re still working out the instruction. Some parents are forming small tutor groups.

Well... yes! Even though there are social programs such as SNAP and food stamps, the benefits are not infrequently diverted by the parent(s) to other substances.

Providing food directly to the child insures they actually benefit. Sad to say, food sent home with the child could be diverted to cash as well
