New York schools ordered to stay open by DiBlasio

Why is this man still breathing?

Despite CDC recommendations concerning school closings, he says NO!

I think the paramount concern is taking the virus back home to elderly and sick people in the household.

I do not particularly like Unions, but in this instance, they should hang him out over a fire ant bed.

A lot of schools here in TX are also closing. Same thing. COVID-19 doesn't seem to impact kids so much. But the concern is them taking it home to grandma and grandpa. And nowadays there are a lot of kids being raised by grandparents. Closing the schools isn't to protect the kids, it's to break a link in the chain of transmission. Schools are germ factories.

Locally, in four of the wealthiest counties in the country, the school boards and county.govs are struggling with the fact that a surprising number of families count on free or reduced price meals for their kids.

Solution?

Open six feeding centers (this is Fairfax). How kids will get there with no transportation is the next hurdle to cross.

How is gathering the kids together to feed them less dangerous than gathering them together for school?

This is one of my irks also...When did it get to be the school system's responsibility to feed children beyond the lunch meal, and why do schools think they should feed them if schools are closed?

It's the parents responsibility.

Liberals don't think that far ahead, its more important to think you're doing something good than actually doing something good.

It "can" be less dangerous. If done right. Vs the normal school day. Regardless of what should be the responsibility of parents vs. schools. It's the current state. This is awful. These kids need fed. American kids. They are victims of whatever societal alchemy has brought us to this point. But here we are.

There has been some minor discussion of the recent SARS-Wuhan-19-COVID-Coranavirus stuff in this thread. Check it out.

Someone in the local school system tweeted out yesterday that they are doing packaged meals for kids at six county schools. No checking income, don’t have to go to those schools, or even public schools. Just drive through the bus loop and they give you meals for all kids under eighteen present in the car. Interesting idea. We’ll see how it works and how long it lasts.

Some so called "Wealthy" people are actually Cheap and will mooch where ever possible to save their money for themselves. We could actually help the poor if we could get rid of the free loaders who want their share of the free shit.

In our area they are handing out prepackaged lunches and the kids are not even entering the school.

I don’t have any facts or figures in front of me but I wonder if this is because the state of New York doesn’t have the money to pay the teachers while they’re off? If he orders the schools closed then the state would be on the hook.

He was just on TV talking about shutting down NYC and needing the Federal Government to take control of the supply chain.

https://nypost.com/2020/03/15/...onavirus-cases-jump/

"New York City’s coronavirus cases have skyrocketed in less than a week from 25 on Monday to 269 Sunday as Mayor Bill de Blasio considers locking down the Big Apple to contain the outbreak.

“Every option is on the table in a crisis,” de Blasio said Sunday morning on CNN.

“We’ve never seen anything like this,” he said.

De Blasio expects the city’s coronavirus tally to rise to 1,000 in the next few days.

“It’s changing every hour so we’re going to constantly make new decisions,” de Blasio said about the dynamic public health emergency.

He also called on the Trump Administration to assume a war-time footing.

“We need the federal government to take over the supply chain right now,” he said.

“Right now we have to make sure the places in this country that need more ventilators, surgical masks, they need hand sanitizers, that that is a federalized dynamic where those factories that produce those goods are put on 24/7 shifts,” de Blasio said."

Perhaps; the more likely outcome is that they will blame Trump. There doesn't need to be any logic, rhyme, or reason. No facts, no proof, no nothing will matter. They'll lay it at his doorstep as if he personally went to each individual school and ordered them to stay open.

Sounds suspiciously like a communist attitude.

Regardless of this, the music is about to stop, and he won't have a chair.

He's term limited out at the end of next year, and there are no higher offices he can run for where he wouldn't face incumbents who would crush him. His futile run for president wasn't because he would win. He was hoping to raise his profile enough that he could get a cabinet post in what all the Democrats swear will be the Democratic adminstration that will replace Trump next year.

In other words, he political career is about to end anyway, whatever he does now won't change that.
