Need a little help please.

My wife has a new male boss who has texted her this rainbow unicorn emoji with a heart.

What would the meaning of this emoji be.

Also the emoji has a small square box with an arrow pointing down that when you click on it it sends the emoji back to the sender and also saves the emoji to your pictures.

What is this feature called and how deep does it go. I now can open text from other people and the small square with the arrow pointing down is now next to every picture in the text it was sent to me in and also I can open up text strings from other people and that square with an arrow is beside all pictures I have received from other people as well. This was never by any pictures before I received the unicorn emoji with the heart.

I just recently learned what the square with an arrow pointing up was. I found it a few days ago while on amazon looking up parts for a buddies side by side and I can forward the item but when you touch the square on amazon it brings up people in my text list or gives me the option of emailing it. Where in the unicorn emoji it just automatically sends it back to the sender as well as saving it to your save pictures.

The unicorn emoji was unwelcomed by my wife and also when discussed with her her co-worker she thought it to be really weird and unwelcoming.

So what do you think innocent emoji or something strange and unwelcoming. Doing a google search on a unicorn emoji with a heart has some rather interesting urban dictionary meanings. Some playful and innocent and most sexually oriented.

Ok, true story, I have accidentally sent that fucking unicorn to a half dozen people. Male friends and coworkers even. I don't even know how. I'm not a purple unicorn kinda guy. It really surprised the shit out of my wife the first time I did it, and now it's an inside joke between us.

I'm not in any way saying this is what your wife's boss did, but I am saying it could be possible, and he may be too mortified to even bring it up.

In what context is a supervisor sending emojis at all??
Seriously.
Emojis are childish and children shouldn’t even have electronic devices.
I have used the little faces on this forum on very few occasions which I guess are emojis.

Other than that I absolutely do not use them and still shake my head a bit when I receive them from an adult.

YOW! That is a mystery to me. Maybe he is a 'brony'?

Maybe he needs a visit, like Ray Liotta gave to Karen’s neighbor in Good Fellas.

This definition makes it even more bizarre...

https://www.dictionary.com/e/e...the%20rainbow%20flag.

It refers to a bisexual woman who sleeps with heterosexual couples, a term sometimes referenced with the unicorn face emoji.

More generally, people in the gay community may use the unicorn emoji to express pride or signal identity, connecting the emoji’s often rainbow-colored horn to the rainbow flag.

The boss may just be showing he is all-in with office politics.

I think she should ask what it’s about. Not in a formal wtf, but a hey, I got this emoji, and I’m afraid I don’t get it’s relevance or pertinence-

I kinda agree with Black about them - but I’ll use the ones on the forum - and on occasion, texting to get a point across (sarcasm, birthday cake).
Case in point: when my child gets hold of an iPhone, he’ll send nothing but emojis and pictures. Few words.

And I guess it depends on the office setting (casual or formal). I think with a new opp sex boss it’s certainly unsettling, and definitely bears further notice on your part. Per the box with arrow, a response box? Or a virus? Weird? Best of luck sorting this out. I’m curious now as well.

I wouldn't waste even a few seconds or brain cells trying to figure it out.
Maybe keep the message somewhere, in case there's more to it but otherwise, go on with her life until further notice.

Hard to know the meaning without asking him. Could have been an accident like P220 Smudge said or could have been intentional. There are a bunch of characters or animals a person can choose that all have the same things like blowing a kiss, heart eyes, cursing, etc. To me, the bottom line is the blowing a kiss. That is inappropriate if it was intentional. I don’t know what it is about that stupid unicorn, but in my text messages if I select to include an emoji that unicorn is there in my “frequently used” and I have never used it once.

For most normal people they don’t have any deeper meaning than being silly pictures. If it was intentionally sent, I’d think it was a bit weird if he and your wife weren’t at least buddies that kid around at work.

Well you see she is in HR for a very large home health care company that's owned by one of the largest health related company's in the US. She covers a large tri-state are and he's over several others that cover tri-state positions which makes all this really uncool.

He is a new hire. They pretty much work remotely due to covid but if not for current covid conditions they would work out of the same office complex.

Anything she does is going to be a no win situation.

Does anyone know anything about the small square with an arrow pointing down feature beside the emoji that I mentioned in the OP that sends the emoji back to the sender and also saves it to your pictures.

What is it called specifically.
