I have a Celestron C8/AVX. Up till now, I've powered it using a power cord plugged into a wall outlet. Next month I'm going with some friends out into the desert for a small star party, and I need a portable power option. Are there better options than the Celestron Power Tank?

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

A 12v to 120v car adapter and 12v lawnmower battery.

It's how I power mine.

What's wrong with the Power Tank?

Just wondering if there was something better or maybe cheaper (maybe something without the 'Celestron' label)

I power mine with a small 12V battery directly, no inverter needed since all my telescopes require 12V DC.

How do you connect the battery to the scope? Do you use a rechargeable battery?
