These blocks will end up being a hidden wall behind a different, visible course so the appearance of these blocks won't matter.

I could use cinder block, but sitting in clay soil and with lateral loading I'd prefer a more interlocked, integrated retention plan.

I built a wall with Allan Block. I was very happy with the results. The only exception is the website offers a variety of colors, but only 1 color was available in all of Colorado. They make the block in Denver, at the Basalite plant, but only make 1 color. I was told that if I wanted a different color I would have to pay for it to be brought in by rail car.
