One of my buildings has a weight room for public with a lot of exercise machines. The ducts there are by FAR the most dirty. My cleaner people say your home activities, pets, cooking habits, and gas stoves will cause more dirty ducts. Also humidity and things like hairspray. I have one of these "home warranties" for our sewer line. First thing that write at the top of the agreement is that it is NOT a warranty. It is a service agreement. If something goes wrong, you call them. They give you a list of several companies they work with that you can call. You have to use their companies in order for them to cover it. I only have a one of these "home warranties" and like I said it is sewer line coverage. But the list of exceptions is quite long. As for duct cleaning, I personally would not do it. My fear is that it kicks loose garbage that will then clog up the evaporator or inside coil of the air conditioning system. What I've had recommended is to take the register covers off and just vacuume as far as you can into the duct work. I would also do the same around the return register. Also make sure that you have the inside and outside coils of your air conditioning system cleaned on a regular basis. | |||
