Insulation covered it up and the offset was just enough for me to loose my balance with nothing to grab on to. I spread my arms out not to go all the way through.<BR>Wife made sure I was alright before snapping pictures as I tried to get unstuck.Have you done it??YesNo

hjs157Yep. May 2016. I had completely gutted my bathroom including the old concrete floor. Here's a shot of my kitchen range from the sky cam. DOH!

Nope. Our youngest now climbs out of his crib so I needed to convert it to the toddler bed. I keep the toddler bed rails in the attic. Was going to hand the rails down to the wife.
So she was right there when I went through.
When I spread my arms it caught me but flexed my shoulders up with my hands above my head and I could not use my arms to pull me up.
I had to walk my feet up the wall and push off the wall to get my shoulders above the rafters to free myself.
Wife made sure I was not hurt before snapping the pics as I tried to climb out.

MikeinNCNo, I have not, but it is a huge concern when I have to go into the attic.
When I was adding lights on the front corners of my house I carried two pieces of plywood with me...can’t see the rafters because of the blown in insulation

Skins2881I have done it once, but I brought down the entire freaking ceiling. Working in a 1930s Victorian style house near DC. Crawling through attic to run wiring for an addition. got on a board that wasn't nailed down, didn't fall through or anything just barely rocked the board into the plaster ceiling and the entire room's ceiling fell down. Freaked out called the project manager and told him what had happened, he said no problem, part of the project was to rip down the ceiling, add new wood to fix the sagging out of level ceiling and install drywall. I ended up saving them some demo work and prevented serious injury to the guys that were to demo the ceiling. Probably put 30 pounds of my weight onto the old ceiling and the whole thing fell, plaster ceiling and two layers of drywall. What a mess, but it didn't crush a coworkers head when they went to start. My oopsie saved someone.

cgodeHaven’t done the attic/Sheetrock thing myself surprisingly but did go partially through a weakened floor with fire below if that counts.

RogueJSKOh shit.
Story time!
So several years ago, myself and a couple other guys go to a house to try to locate this frequent flier scrotebag tweaker who had multiple warrants. We had it on good authority that dude was home. Mom answers the door, but says she hasn't seen Scrotebag Son in a few days. We clear the main portion of the house, not finding him. As we're heading to search the garage and look for the attic entrance, there's a loud
CRASH from the master bedroom in back (which we had already cleared). We rush in, guns drawn, and see a cloud of insulation particles hanging in the air, and two legs sticking out of the ceiling in the middle of the bedroom. We're yelling at Scrotebag Son to get down and show us his hands. Scrotebag Son is howling in pain and yelling back that he can't because he's stuck.
Myself and another guy then go up into the attic to extricate Scrotebag Son from the ceiling and take him into custody. He was in a similar position to what you described, stuck between two rafters with his arms above his head, unable to drop further down, but also unable to pull himself up.

DaBigBRWhen I was about 12 my buddies and I discovered a stash of old porn mags in one of the guys' attics over their garage. About half of us were up there one day when the kid's mom got home early. The guys up there had to try to hide in place and the rest of us had to try to get the mom out of the garage and get the others out. Well, no great shock, someone missed the rafter and put a leg through. They scampered back up in time, but just as the mother came out to investigate, some of the drywall fell on her car. Obviously, the gig was up.
Funny thing, though... They never told anybody else's parents. At the time, nobody could figure out why...

Wolfpacker^^^ That is a great story with a good ending. “Scrotebag” apprehended.

Wolfpacker^^ That is a funny story. I can recall from my youth, an uncle of mine gave my father a huge collection of Playboy magazines. After stumbling onto the stash and reviewing a few I realized that a lot were really, really old. Possibly even collector quality!
Decided to go back later for further inspection. Alas, my father, as a Southern Baptist, was not a fan of the gift. All were gone. Not a trace of anything left with nowhere else to be in storage.

But, my neighbor's son & my former boss both have.
