A Bronx bodega owner gunned down a man as he attempted to rob his store on Sunday night, cops said.
The crook, identified as 32-year-old Daniel Meeks, had gotten into an altercation with the owner, 43, after trying to hop over his counter at the J Market on Morrison Avenue in Soundview, according to police.
Meeks was not carrying a weapon.
As the pair tussled, cops said, the owner pulled out a gun and shot the robber in the head.
Authorities were then called and Meeks was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, but didn’t survive.
The alleged stickup happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Police took the owner to the 43rd Precinct stationhouse for questioning. He was later released. He is believed to be a legal gun owner.

Yep.
"Blows Away"
"Gunned Down"
"Alleged Stickup"

Yup, I read that - 'blows away' and 'gunned down' - if that isn't making out that the shooter was little more than a trigger-happy gangster, I don't know what is.
