Bought a new truck! Login/Join

I’ve been looking (not too seriously) for a new truck for the past several months, at least. I have a 2011 Tundra that I bought in October of 2010, and with 217,000 miles on it now, I just felt it was time for a new truck. Also, the check engine and traction control lights had come on, and the transmission began shifting strange, the cause is a solenoid gone bad in the transmission, a $1500 repair.
This really hastened my search for a new truck, so Friday I bought a 2022 Tacoma double cab SR5! It’ll be a change, going from a full size truck to a midsize, but I really like the Tacoma so far! Anyone have a recommendation as to Tacoma forums, there are several. I don’t plan any mods, other than maybe a grille, as I like the wheels that came on the truck.

Congrats. I think there's a rule specifying that you must mod a Taco.

Get a Toyota Bed Mat. They are very heavy duty and will kelp keep things in place on that slick composite bed. You might also think about replacing the Tweeter speakers on the dash at some point. Not very expensive, reasonably easy to do and the sound is greatly improved. I'm on my third Tacoma, one 2nd gen and two 3rd gens. Those are the first mods I did on all three. Both under $100 as I recall.

Tacomaworld is a good forum. Lots of good info and mostly helpful people.

Congrats.
Look at Pedal Commander - really is a great , easy modification for the truck. My biggest frustration was the lack of engine response getting onto a highway. ECT button on the dashboard is supposed to “enhance” performance.
Tacoma world forum is a great place.

I’m not a Japanese vehicle fan at all, and that goes double for the Tundra, BUT, for some reason I’ve always liked the Tacoma. I think the styling remains fresh, and they are like a blank canvas for personalizing. I’ll bet it’s nice, and I would like to see some pictures too.

Congratulations on the new truck.
Mind if I ask, were you able to get it around MSRP? I'm hearing about a lot of dealer markups right now.

Congrats on the purchase. I have always driven sedans and I bought my first truck in 2016 - a Tacoma.

It’s been a great vehicle so far.

Congrats on the Taco. I'm sure you'll love it and it will serve you well. I've reached the point too where I just don't think I can justify owning and daily driving a full sized truck anymore. I've got my eye on the new Ford Maverick and will be watching it to see if it might be an option.

Congrats on your first taco.
On my fifth one.
Dependable, comfortable with terrific resale.
Unfortunately oem tires suck.
Had to replace wrangler Kevlar side wall bolognas after 24k miles on a 18 TRD off road 4x4.
Went with cooper discover a/t.
Good luck on your new ride.

You should try a Ferrari. I hear that they're a lot of fun.
