Anyone use an under-desk treadmill?
I am spending a lot more time at my home office desk these days, and was thinking about switching to a standing desk with a treadmill underneath. Does anyone have a setup they recommend?

I converted my son's bedroom into a work from home office a month before C-19 shut everything down complete with dual monitors, small stereo, 40" TV, curio cabinet with decanters full of scotch and bourbon, and all the other essentials for a work space but along with that;

My wife bought a tread mill which also fits in the space and I have been known to use it on occasion while in between meetings and such.

So my question; why an under the desk treadmill?
Why try to walk and type (or talk and take notes) at the same time?

Why not a separate, treadmill and/or rowing machine?

I think the gist of it, as I understand it, is that in motion, the body finds balance. Statically sitting has been destroying my back, and standing only works for so long before fatigue puts you in poor posture and thus also is dangerous.

I'll watch this thread. My PT doc has been recommending this for a while.

Walking on a treadmill and trying to type/click/read will definitely build balance and enhance core strength. Just try to keep the MPH's under 5 or you might have to recall a few emails... Big Grin

I bought a standard treadmill that has a shelf I can rest my lap top on (most are not setup to do this easily). I have used it for dozens of hours of Zoom conference calls that I didn't need my camera on for, not that I couldn't do it but most people don't need to see me bouncing around and sweating! It's also great for watching videos, light internet surfing or answering emails.

Different solution, but one of our HR employees has a sitting elliptical under her desk. Not sure how much use it sees, but an alternative for those that don't want to stand at a desk.

I have the 3D Innovations DeskCycle.

It literally fits under my traditional desk. It was quiet enough to use on conference calls, but I've been retired for a while. I sit in a traditional desk chair and use the DeskCycle for 45 minutes to an hour while watching YouTube on days when the weather is too cold or wet for me to walk. I think it's great.

What I'm looking for is something like this that I can walk on:

A lot of the ones on Amazon seem to come from China, so I was just curious if anyone has any experience with a particular brand/model that they can say is quiet and reliable.

I don't do conference calls or a lot of typing or writing I'm a commodities trader, so I spend a lot of time just staring at computer screens. It's something I can easily do while walking. I use several large monitors, so a shelf for a laptop isn't sufficient.

Looks like you'll have to be the guinea pig and report back to us.

I use a standing desk with two types of stools: one with a back and somewhere to put my feet, and the other a wobble stool that lets me stand and lean on the stool. I rotate between standing, leaning, and sitting.

Standing definitely helps the back. Wouldn't see why a treadmill wouldn't help.

I've done the under-desk Shake Weight®.

Got funny looks from folks walking by the door.
