Looking for some help dealing with a rather annoying health issue. Sorry in advance, the details may be a little gross for some. Last Tuesday or Wednesday, I noticed I had a hemorrhoid. I’ve had one once before, 4ish years ago, and it was rather unremarkable. Came and went with only Tucks wipes as treatment. Like the first one, this one initially minor blood spotting on TP. Thursday evening, I had a bowel movement around 815PM that resulted in profuse bleeding from the hemorrhoid. Not so much I couldn’t control it, but enough that I ended up having to miss work over it; when I wiped, I ended up with clotted blood on the TP. I started taking sitz baths Thursday night to the tune of 3-4 a day, and started treating topically with Preparation H. Come Friday evening, the bleeding was still noticeable. I went in to a local quick care clinic just to make sure this wasn’t more serious. They confirmed it was just an external hemorrhoid, prescribes 2.5% Hydrocortisone cream, and said if the bleeding didn’t stop, I would likely need to have the damn thing removed, which they said could be done under local anesthetic in simple office visit to my PCP. I went with some localized pain at the site, made worse by any kind of movement + coughing, sneezing, laughing, etc. I rested pretty well Friday, Saturday, and today, to the point that the bleeding had really slowed down, and the pain was gone. I went in to work tonight for a half shift (I’m a cop) and had an unremarkable night. I got home and checked and the bleeding has really picked up again; still no pain. I guess what I’m hoping for is someone who had had luck stopping the bleeding from a hemorrhoid after several days. I know this bleeding is coming from the hemorrhoid itself and is not internal, so I’m not worried about a more serious issue. I just need some help making the damn thing stop bleeding and go away. Additionally, has anyone ever had an external hemorrhoid removed? Any insights into the procedure/how long I can expect to be down for? I really don’t want to miss more work over this. For reference, I am a 26 year old male with no major health history, no family history of rectal/colon cancer, and no significant events, diagnoses, or changes leading up to this episode. ****************************** May our caskets be made of hundred-year oak, and may we plant those trees tomorrow.

I had a similar issue, no bleeding but constant debilitating pain. Doc ordered some prescription stuff, a sort of foam. I gasped a little when I saw the pre-insurance price, but it worked very well and I was back to normal in 3-4 days. Sorry, didn't note the name of the stuff. Be careful when following the masses. Your doctor can lance it. Pretty basic precedure and will probably be all you need to do.

oOWW! Lance it? Lord have mercy! I know how bad this can be. I shit blood for a year once. The one natural remedy I know of is called RUTIN. You can get it from a health food store but I recommend buying on line from either Vitamin Research, or Dr. David Williams. They are two companies that pride themselves on quality of potency. I'll give you an example of the effectiveness of Rutin. My mother visited my father at the hospital once when he had hemerrhoids removed. In the same room with him was a buddy of his that went in every year to have them removed. My mother got him to agree to try Rutin. The man never had to have the surgery again. And, NO, NOT BECAUSE HE DIED but because they never got that bad again. If dad had followed that advise he would have been better off, too. From what I understand, Rutin helps with cellular respiration. I mentioned that fact to an active duty Sailor who was about to start training for deep diving (because cellular respiration is involved with the transfer of molecules across cell membranes) and he replied that he was already taking Rutin to prepare himself for the training. Hope this helps.

The OTC stuff sucks and even the prescription stuff takes a few days to work. If it doesn’t work, go see a colorectal specialist. They’re the pros and can determine whether meds (there are several better than 2.5% hydrocortisone but much more $), in office procedures, or outpatient surgery is the best course of action. I’ve had several internal including an extra evil internal one that would escape and become external (BTW, that hurts). I’ve had the in office rubber band procedure which had mixed results (took care of 2 of 3) and I think they can do the rubber band on external. The 3rd required surgery but that internal technique probably isn’t applicable to OP’s situation. BTW, now that you have hemorrhoids you likely need to make lifestyle changes: The last 3 bullet points combine to a medium firmness 0bama that is low strain to pass which facilitates the 1st bullet point of short duration #2s. No personal experience, just a friend’s same issue as related to me. He was also a cop and apparently this is common if you sit in a cruiser all day for years. He said he wished he’d have gotten the in office removal done at the first occurrence.

I wonder if styptic would work in your case. Shaving pencils or powders made for shaving bleeds.

I had one go from nothing to a large bleeding external in about a day. I was really worried and was looking for a doctor (I was on vacation 1300 miles from home). I laid off the Mg Citrate and spicy food for a couple of days and used a couple of suppositories. The bleeding slowed way down and 3 weeks later even the hemorrhoid has shrunk to almost nothing. I think it was a combination of spicy food, chlorinated water, and bicycling.

I've dealt with that PIA problem too! In my opinion, tatortodd hit the nail on the head...if you have insurance, and can do it, go to a colorectal specialist. Drink water, take fiber, and take care of business in a hurry when you sit on the pot (makes a huge difference). I've used prescription hydrocortisone suppositories with success. And I've had at least 8 of them (all internal) "banded" over the past 10 years...5 of them at once, when I had my 1st colonoscopy, and that sucked afterwards! Usually, the "banding" can take place in the doc's office (no hospital, etc), and takes maybe a minute, seriously. I've had a "banding" on a Friday, and I was comfortably working (on my feet all day) on Monday. If you have one banded, I suggest taking prescription pain meds at night. For the 1st one, I tried to tough it out with Ibuprofen...mistake...the throbbing at night was miserable...not unbearable pain, just misery. With night-time pain meds, the ones after that weren't that bad. The daytime wasn't bad at all. If I remember correctly, the external ones aren't really amenable to "banding", as the line of demarcation for pain separates the external from the internal...this is where the colorectal specialist comes in handy as well, to know the difference. These things can be really frustrating, I know. But my last "bandings" were several years ago, and I've been problem free since then. Fingers crossed.

I have had 3-4 external at a time. Smallish (I guess) as any pain associated with them was relatively minor. And they'd become internal by lunch or so. Bleeding was intermittant, but at times it was "heavy".Had a colonoscopy at 41 and they banded 4 and things were fine for awhile. Fast forward 10 years, same thing. Issues, surgery, fixed. But now I'm taking Metamucil and not spending a lot of time on the throne. Seems to be working so far. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

Followed up with primary care today. She said the quick care folks were a little misguided in their advice and that surgery is NOT feasible for a single external hemorrhoid at this point. This one had thrombosis and my Thursday night bowel movement caused a rupture, which relieved the pressure but resulted in an open hemorrhoid which is why it is still bleeding. She said bleeding could continue for a couple weeks but since there is no more pain I’m already on the mend and having the surgery is probably going to prolong my recovery. I was relieved that the bleeding wasn’t as big an issue as I first thought. While it’s annoying, I’m glad to know I’m on the right track. Damn things ssssuuuuuuccccckkkkk. ****************************** May our caskets be made of hundred-year oak, and may we plant those trees tomorrow.

I used to get them from time to time. Dr. prescribed a cream that worked pretty well, but honestly, for me the thing that's helped the most is to just spend as little time as possible on the can, and use a squatty-potty like device, which facilitates that. You should be able to dump out very quickly, if you're doing it right.

I also have had issues over the past year or so. Even had the bad flair ups with the unbearable pain and blood clotting. One simple thing I found while researching remedies was the constant references to cleanliness in that region. I'm not talking not walking around for a week straight with a pant load. More like paying a little extra attention, especially after a movement. It was suggested to bring some sanitation or roid wipes to the can and use those but I got tired of that. So I started wetting a couple of paper hand towels with warm water. Do the normal cleanup process, but then follow with a wet paper towel or two, then another swipe or two with tp to dry up. Takes a little longer but I have noticed great results. Lot less irritation and when there is a flair up it is much less intense and usually goes away fast. Hope you get things under control. This is a miserable issue to deal with. Best of luck. "And I think about my loves, well I've had a few. Well,I'm sorry that I hurt them, did I hurt you too" I Was Wrong--Social D.

I had issues until I used a donut pillow at work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yidn, shreibt un fershreibt" "The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. Have you had any significant diet changes in the last 6-12 months? If you take supplements, any changes there in the last 6-12 months? I know of a couple of guys that either added creatine to their supplementation, or significantly increased it and developed hemorrhoid problems. They cut out the creatine and the problems went away. It could be coincidence, but creatine supplementation can irritate the digestive system. It's worth looking at diet factors before you consider significant medical treatment. .

After you heal, to help prevent a re-occurrence, use a bidet attachment like this: https://biobidet.com/collectio...-natural-water-bidet This will cut down on the abrasive action of toilet paper and clean the area a lot better. Also, get some witch hazel, which is what is in Tucks hemorrhoid pads. Dab the rectum area with a wad of TP moistened with witch hazel.

Time to time I've had to deal with having set-up/taken down trade show booths combined with all the standing around. Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with in 10+ years. Treatment: - Preparation H suppository for several days, (yeah, the one's you insert) - Lots of fiber, eliminate starch in diet - warm/hot bath to sit your ass in, helps reduce swelling - Use donut cushion when sitting

2nd on the bidet attachments. Once you start using them, there is no going back. The one I used can make a powerful stream and that could have been what set off one of my rhoids. So take it easy on the water pressure.
