Be careful about the grates. I had a Q with the cast iron grates. Imagine leaving a cast iron pan outside with a cover on it. Its going to rust, rust bad.

They have to be Porcelain-Enamel coated.
I've had the same set on my Weber for 20+ years. No rust.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I had a big problem with the cast iron grates also. Mine started flaking big chunks of steel off in layers. I was afraid I’d be biting down on metal in my burger. So I took them out and replaced with Grill Grates. Happy now.

You guys having issues with the cast iron grates, are you maintaining them? You have to burn all the gunk off, brush them, and give them a good spray or wipe with oil, then there is no problem.

Same as you would for a cast-iron pan.

My grates rusted out . I called Webber and he said they are probably upside down. They last forever if installed correctly but many people install them upside down on accident and they rust out like that. Sure enough I inspected and the grates came upside down from Home Depot. He sent me new grates free of charge. Haven’t rusted out since and it’s been about ten years. The cast iron grates are triangular shaped; the flat side goes up, the pointy triangular side goes down.

Op, get a hot plate to heat up food and boil water. 120v , works just fine for cooking. I bought one at Walmart for like $30. I use it instead of the propane stove most nights.

While I don't have a covered grill w/doors, my better half bought me a Blackstone a couple of years ago for Father's Day and I like it much better than a standard grill. The griddle style cooking surface reminds you of those old Mom n Pop burger joints and it makes some great burgers as well as steaks and other meats cooked on it, plus you have the ability to cook other stuff on it as well.

They do make a covered griddle w/doors to hide the tank. I know everyone is listing Weber, but give Blackstone a look and see if it has what you want.

I get much more usefulness out of my Blackstone griddle than all the grills I've ever had. It's ready to cook almost immediately, I can make a kickass breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, and more all right on the griddle. Steaks still come out great, and smashed burgers taste so darn good.

I have had a Weber Genesis 310 since 2009 and have been extremely happy with it. Works as good today as the day I bought it. It has 3 burners and a porcelain-enamel coated grate. The grate still looks new. The burners are still in great shape. The only thing I've replaced are the flavorizer bars.

Exact same experience for me.

I wasn't happy that my wife spent so much on a grill for me for Father's Day 11 years ago.
But I'm glad she did.

I keep it covered on the covered back porch.
Keep it clean, inside and out, as well.
Still looks like the day I set it up, although the inside well seasoned now...
I love that the bottom tray comes out to make cleaning easier..

I'm on my 3rd Grill Cover ..

Is it built to last? Their warranty isn’t long....

Weber replaced my cast iron grates once for free. They mentioned the upside down thing. I finally just bought the extra large stainless grates (Summit?)for my Genesis like the one above and have never been happier with a grill.

One problem could be finding one with doors now. I think they took the doors off the most recent models.

I've had 3 sets of the porcelain coated Weber grates. I'll freely admit it didn't take care of the first set according to the manual. I didn't realize they needed special care. The next two sets were taken care of by the book and flat side up. All three sets lasted about a year. I've had my stainless steel grates for 8 years now. They were well worth the money.

It's possible I still did something wrong, but I have another grill with plain old cast iron grates, no porcelain coating, that are 5 years old now and still doing fine. At some point, it's a gas grill. I just want to fire it up, cook some food, and not have to perform a sacred ritual to do so.

I have a Blackstone Tailgater. It's a two burner camp stove type thing with a griddle on one side and a grill box on the other side. You can remove both and put a couple big pots on it as well. I have to say the griddle is awesome. Bacon, eggs, pancakes, sautéed veggies, stir fry, etc. It's got huge grease pans to. The downside is getting parts. I needed a heat spreader, burner cover thing (sort of like Weber's flavorizer bars) for the grill box and it took 4 months for Blackstone to get them.

I have this one:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/We...-NA-_-311235032-_-N&

Had it for about 4 years and I'm very happy with it. Grill steak and a few other things on it for a family of 4. It's very good at keeping everything at even temps as long as I do my part keeping an eye on it.

The frame is just solid because the griddle is heavy cast iron. If you take care of it, it will serve you a long time. Just clean the cooking surface after each use and re-season it, I use lard on ours. Somehow, things take better fried in pig fat.

If anyone is interested, this is what I went with. Wally World sells a 28” version with hood, doors, magnetic tool holder, paper towel holder, and trash bag holder. It was $274 but just like me I added all the accessories to it, cover, grilling tools, cleaning tools, 3 year warranty, etc, etc. I figured this was the best route because during the kitchen remodel I need to be able to cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, anything and everything that is not microwaveable. Thanks for the advice on this. Hope it turns out well. Just need to buy a couple of propane tanks now and I’ll be ready.

Updates are always appreciated and that looks like it'll be great for your intended purpose. It's like a giant frying pan. In case you decide you need an oven, you could get the $89 Weber Original Kettle Grill. It's charcoal, but for occasional use that's not a bad thing.
