This is Sid, my buddy for the past 11 years. He came to me at about 10 months old from his original owner, when he was diagnosed with glaucoma and she was unable to afford the treatment. He's been blind since he was about a year and a half old, but he adapted to it remarkably well and has been a happy loving boy ever since.

Yesterday after our morning walk, he laid down to rest and didn't want to get up again. He didn't even come to tell me it was dinner time at 2PM like he usually does. He didn't want dinner, or even treats, and seemed to be breathing with a little difficulty. I took him to the emergency vet, they did an ultrasound and found a mass in his abdomen and a belly full of fluid, mostly blood. Cancer, completely undetected until last night. The doctor said he likely wouldn't survive surgery and would be in a lot of pain if he did, and that the cancer had almost certainly metastasized anyway, so any relief would be temporary. He passed away peacefully at 8:45 last night.

There are two dogs I REALLY regret having to put down.
They go too soon and we will live with that pain for a long time.
My wife and I know how tough it is. They are family. Frown

Hey, Sid. Say hello to Max and Lea when you get to the bridge. They are waiting to play.

Sorry for the hole in your soul, 308.

Sid, our Bud, Wendy, Macie, Gretchen, and Jacks will be waiting for you at the beginning of the bridge.

They can play together in the meadows, sniff the trees, and have fun while they wait for us to join them to eventually cross the bridge together.

So sorry 308. What a sweet boy. So glad you took such good care of him. And I am sure he did his job well of taking care of you.
It is really rough to loose them. Be well my friend.

What a great looking pup! And, yes, they really become a part of our families that non-dog people likely will never understand. Each one seems to bring some unique trait into the family and it hurts so darned bad to have to part with them. I'm very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss.

Sid my Dixie Bell has been in heaven for five weeks now. She’s a 11yo goof goof bloodhound and loves to play. You will probably find her in the sprinklers cooling off.
