Deepocean already mentioned Channel Master, that is what I have and I'm very happy with my choice. The guide is free and updates via wifi (I think) the biggest difference is you have to supply your own external hard drive but they are cheap enough that it really doesn't matter.

I might have to take a look at that for the TV in the second room.
