Jeff Yarchin. I understand that he's not doing the karma any more, as he no longer makes bacon, nor sausage.

But it was beef, not pork. Still tasted decent actually.
Then it wasn't actually bacon. It was some prostituted version of beef jerky. Just sayin'...
I wouldn't disagree. However, they also serve up Sanka (and other "instants") and call it "coffee" too.
Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

signewtI first ate at a Waffle House 10 years ago somewhere between Texas & Florida. My 1st surprise was the 'bacon' was thin enough to read through; if it had been 1 micron thinner it would have had only one side;
my 2nd surprise was how GOOD it was!!!!

cool.
Bacon the way you know is known in Europe since the 10th century. There was no USA back then so we are simply calling it bacon, but it´s the same product.
Yeah, the breakfast buffets in all the hotels all over Europe have our type of bacon, but it is usually very greasy and undercooked (limp!). I usually opt for the link sausage instead.

I think he means that the loose end should be in front, away from the wall. (And I agree.)

0-0Although we call it Panceta, quite like the italian pancetta, ours is pretty much like your bacon.
Porchetta, not an easy to find delicacy, is like the more fat rich italian pancetta. It's not served anywhere. Must get lucky to find it.
I'd kill for a (US) pepperoni sausage. You bastiges got me hooked on that stuff and pizza never tasted the same. Ever.

I've had Bacon in those locations. It's there, just not widely available. I've even found Bacon in some of those locations during Ramadan.
The Arabs do refer to a lot of products as "beef" when it isn't...Camel, etc. They also refer to a lot of products as "bacon" when they are not.
That said, I've had bacon in a number of middle eastern countries or found it in the back of a shop. It's expensive.

That’s damned good looking bacon – a higher ratio of lean to fat. Wish that I could find a store that sold such premium bacon, but I can’t. I’d gladly pay a premium price.

KillerI was in Ireland two weeks ago and their bacon is the best I've ever had and I'm not a huge fan of bacon. Their scrambled eggs on the other hand suck.

tatortoddI've had bacon on 4 continents. Some of it was excellent and some was "never knew it was possible to ruin bacon." In other words, some may offer "bacon" but they can't cook it to save their lives.
For example, our British friends (or at least their restaurateurs) boil the bacon but pull it from the pan before it crisps (you can successfully cook bacon in a pan, but you need to keep cooking it after all of the water boils away to crisp it). It's served limp and has damn near had all of the flavor cooked out of it. It left me eyeballing the waffle iron in the hotel breakfast buffet and wondering can the waffle iron crisp this up?

Yes, that
is cool, and anyone who doubts this claim simply has to look at this nation's accomplishments over the last 120 years, and if it's insufficient that we
saved Europe's ass with one hand, while simultaneously crushing the Japanese empire with the other, all one has to do is open their eyes and acknowledge the fact that a substantial portion of the world's population would give anything to be here.

Pipe SmokerMy butcher shop had back bacon yesterday – not often available there. A nice rind of fat on it. Makes a pretty good BLT!

I suspect this is describing the loose end coming off the top pointing out rather than coming off the bottom pointing down behind the roll.

MikeinNCI once had breakfast on a Dutch ship while we were removing some castaways they had recovered in the Florida Straits. The bacon they initially proffered was not fully cooked and was floppy. One of the boarding team members was a cook. He asked to go visit the galley and taught the Dutch cook how to make proper bacon.
In turn the entire crew began thanking us and saying how good it was “the American way”.
I know my life has served some purpose because we taught the Dutch how to make bacon!
