"Go To" recipes for the holidays
Just curious what your "Go To" recipes are for the Holidays.

This is a favorite around "The Krappy Ranch".
It IS a recipe that has saved my butt several times when a kid comes home and says “I need XYZ in the morning”.

Reese’s Fudge

Ingredients:
1 Can Instant Frosting (Vanilla).
1 cup Nutella
1 cup Peanut Butter

Blend Nutella and Peanut Butter in a bowl.
Remove plastic and foil lid from frosting and microwave for 30 seconds
Blend well with Nutella and Peanut Butter.
Pour into a 9”x9” pan and allow to cool for 30 minutes in fridge.

Cut into squares and enjoy.

You can keep all the stuff on hand, but beware! It is so easy to make that you'll end up making it if you have the stuff!

I like to make recipes from family members that have passed away. It keeps traditions alive and brings back good memories such as helping Mom cook dinner Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

One of the most meaningful things my Mom ever did was to hand write family recipes and place in a recipe binder. She did this after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. The recipe binder / cookbook is full of her recipes, my maternal grandmother's recipes, and my paternal grandmother's recipes.

For example, I'm having Christmas dinner with Dad and this year I plan to serve Mom's London broil, my paternal grandmother's baked beans, and my paternal grandmother's peanut butter pie. Last night, I told Dad about our Christmas dinner menu and I could hear the excitement in his voice.

We have about a dozen "holiday family recipes" that were (mostly) developed by my mom when we were growing up. I will list them here and provide recipes on request. We do not necessarily make all of these every year, but another family tradition is friends stopping by on Christmas Day to scarf snacks and drink Brandy Alexanders (or is that Brandies Alexander?) so we try to have all their favorites. I don't have access to the recipe book right at the moment so this list is only as complete as my aged memory allows.

- Crab Dip
- Hot and Spicy Nuts
- Tiropita
- Lil' Smokies in BBQ sauce
- Bacon-wrapped Water Chestnuts
- Gyōza
