Perhaps $15/hr burger flippers aren't such a bad idea after all.

Burger Flippers, Register Jockeys, etc...

Every self service Kiosk in eight McDonald's locations that was tested had shit on it (fecal bacteria) and other gross junk. Is that what we're destined for, stupid humans whose sole purpose is to keep clean the self-service machines we use to skip the other stupid humans?

I don't mind the act of placing my own order, but I don't want to have to finger a veritable toilet in the lobby in order to do so. And since it's nothing but a steady stream of random people who use the kiosks, you'd have to clean it after every use to be sure it was ever safe.

They clearly have some kinks to work out in this whole Robotization movement...

The next step will be ordering from your own phone instead of the kiosk.

Not via an installed app but over a wifi page.

I read recently that salt/pepper shakers on restraunt tables were worse than restrooms for germs.

The employees touching your food likely used the air dryers (aka fecal atomizer)...

Me, too, actually.

I guess it's just the thought of Junior's booger hook that he's been mining crack with spreading that love all over the ordering station at a restaurant, untold times a day, is particularly bad. I'll touch door handles and not give a damn, and I made fun of the Purel crowd with the best of them. But thus is like having to finger Walmart's bathroom to order a sandwich.

These reports are always unsettling at first, but then as someone already pointed out, if we interact with the environment outside our homes that others have interacted with, the same sort of thing could be found anywhere. Food containers in any grocery store, the handles of any door anywhere or the push plates of the doors themselves, shopping carts (although even my little chain store offers wipes for those who think grocery cart handles are worse than anything else), other merchandise in any store (ever wiped down a gun before handling it in a gun shop?), etc. And none of that even begins to consider the food we eat in any situation we don’t control ourselves. I long ago decided that the assaults on my immune system in countries around the world for the past 64 years really did just make it stronger.

Did you touch the bathroom door handle when departing? Did you touch the counter when ordering? How about the table or chairs where you sat to eat? All of these surfaces are subject to the same exposure you're complaining about. And to the person above who noted the grocery basket handles, how many other items did you handle at the grocery store that numerous other people have handled?

There's simply no escaping it. We live in a dirty environment we have little to no control over. Do your best to keep your paws away from your face and try and wash your hands as frequently as reasonable during the day. That's about the best any of us can hope for.

Report is from the UK.

They have a large Muslim population, yes?

Muslims wipe their ass with their left hand, yes?

It all starts to make sense.

That's what I was thinking. You probably had to wade knee deep through shit to get to the shit covered Kiosk.

So the cash you hand them and the change they hand back (or plastic card) isn't also nasty under a microscope?
Just look at it as building up your immune system.
