petrNew job!
I have been employed at the same place for the past 24 years after I served in the Navy. I applied for promotions and other job titles to no avail, mostly because I don't have a college diploma. So it was essentially a dead end job.
I was approached a few weeks ago by someone that was looking for a manufacturing background and leadership skills. I figured "What do I have to lose?" So I sent a resume and went in for an interview. The interview went well and negotiations started.
I just signed the papers for a day shift supervisor position at a totally different company. Salaried and a LOT more money than I currently make. I'd have to work 12 hours of overtime every week to equal what they offered. Plus, there are other perks for being a supervisor versus an hourly employee there.
I am nervous and excited for this new chapter in my life which will start 24APR2023!
I am going to miss a bunch of my current coworkers, but the ones I told so far are standing behind me in my decision. The company has seemed to be declining over the past 10 years and things don't look to be getting better. With twenty years to go before I can retire, I needed a change for the better. Hopefully this is the change I needed with a company that will be growing.
Tomorrow I will be turning in my termination of employment letter to the company. They may let me stay the next week and a half, but they have been known to just say not to come back. I'll find out tomorrow.
