I don't know how you avoid a death spiral with businesses closing, taxpayers fleeing, and property values tanking - the reduction in the city's tax base is massive. I wouldn't be surprised if San Francisco declares bankruptcy in 3-4 years.
While SF is a Leftist city, over half the Board of Supervisors are held by far-Left end of the political spectrum. Many city managers and unelected officials are also of an extreme-Left position. Both of these factors have resulted in a discourse that is out-of-balance, resulting in the full-Left ideology on display and the disfunction of those practices. The minute any of them attempt to blame their troubles and short-comings on 'white supremacy' and 'conservative outside influence', you know they've run out of ideas, unwilling to face the truth that their policy positions are bankrupt.
The citizenry and voters need to feel more pain before the election in order for things to change. Right now, there's still people aimlessly wondering out loud, why things are they way they are, not rubbing their brain-cells together and concluding that their voting history as led their city to this state.

A friend lives in Bernal Heights. He tells me his neighbors, who look like regular people and have jobs, all believe the leftist hype. As the hypocrisy of the left is so obvious to normal people, they just do not see it. The propaganda is working very well on them, they believe it 100%.

Residents of SF live in a double-bubble, first they live in CA, then they live in SF. Some neighborhoods (like Bernal Heights, Noe Valley, Haight, etc) you could say create another layer, establishing a triple-bubble of insulation from reality. These people are VERY convinced of their righteousness, and are incapable of seeing the situation for what it is until it's too late.
