I don't know about Lowe's, but I am a supplier to a bunch of Ace Hardware and True Value Hardware stores. They have prominent signs near the check-out cash registers stating that hurricane supplies are NOT returnable. Many of the stores have the register printers programmed with that statement, to print right where the customer signs for credit card sales.

I am sorry I was not clear. Dora 1964 was the last DIRECT HIT of a major storm. I was not talking about fringe effects. Due to its geography, Jacksonville is a whole lot less likely to get a direct hit.
Historically, the Florida panhandle has had the most hits from hurricanes in Florida.

just1tymLast time I checked at noon they were saying (if thats worth anything) that the European Model and the GFS model both in the past have been reasonably accurate say landfall between Boca and Jupiter. If thats worth anything from past storm experience, here in very south Miami we will at least be on the dryer side of the storm and some squally tropical storm bands. One can only hope. I paid my dues taking the brunt of Andrew so I may be running on luck buts it's been almost 30yrs since so odds are luck isn't on my side anymore and due for another.
Traffic was at a crawl on US1 because all the lines at gas stations, no water at the Publix I went to or my usual Walmart. I'd guess that if the predictions are reasonably accurate about time and landfall, I'd take a guess that these things like water and some gas stations will be restocked and almost normal by Sunday because the crazies will have already scored and angry at home licking their wounds. It's the same old, same old, the typical media stirring the frenzy pot...idiots.
On one local news station it seemed, the cone of confusion..errr concern, has now been elongated from the Middle Keys to Southern South Carolina!

If I can believe my eyes I just flicked on the tube and caught ch 7 News and they were showing the European and another model having the storm take an abrupt turn north and skirt the coast off shore and head north! Go figure

dwright1951Southernmania I am in central Alabama on the local weather at noon the weather guy said that Gulf Shores/ Fort Morgan should be fine, sure there will be some rain, but not tropical force winds. I grew up in that area, my favorite places to eat are Doc’s seafood and Wolf Bay Lodge, wife says wolf bay has a real good margarita. Hope you enjoy your trip.

ChicagoSigManThat latest adjustment to the track forecast is a good one for SWFL. My dad is near West Palm Beach, so it's good for him too. I hate the idea of hoping it hits somewhere else.... i'm really hoping it keeps going north and misses landfall all together.

Mike, I'm in the camp that really wishes it makes a sharp turn to the north and the eye stays off shore. The sooner a turn like that the better for all of us. One can still hope, much to all the news casters chagrin

Dtechwunderground.com has the model screen showing it just skirting the coast or staying offshore and taking a similar path to what that other low was doing last week and then possibly doing a bee line to the North Atlantic (GFS model). I've been hoping, praying, and suspecting for a while now that it might do this given the prior low was not as strong and was able to exploit the trough weakness in the Bermuda high off the east coast of the US. PASigThe Weather Channel just showed their 4 most likely storm tracks as of 11:45 pm tonight 8/30/19 and they all seem to hug the coast or stay just off the coast and go up.
