Trust me, watching this storm approach is like watching the scene in Austin Powers when he ran over the guy with the steam roller.
This morning it was suppose to arrive by noon...at noon it was suppose to arrive by 1700...at 1700 it was suppose to arrive by 0300...just get here and go!
I swung into the ABC this morning to pick up a bottle of whisky (for medicinal purposes, in case I had to perform an amputation with a Swiss army knife or something...) but I'm getting to the point where I am going to start drinking it to pass the time...

Still waiting for the storm. Until then, enjoy the interlude.

The Starland Vocal Band was John Denver's backup band while he was still living in the East. Two members, Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert co-wrote (with Denver) Take Me Home, Country Roads. Bill and Taffy wrote the song originally, then teamed with Denver to polish it up to the final version. I was fortunate to see them perform live (with Denver) in the early '70s at an intimate club in Georgetown, the Cellar Door.

Someone here had the way this storm was acting and what to expect...he was told to stand down. Turns out he was correct in most ways. The wind was crazy in south Charlotte. Caused some limbs to come down but no real damage. I didn't get to use my new generator :/

Here in Virginia Beach, Virginia we go some downed trees, etc. however I believe we dodged a big one and did not get as worse as they led us to believe. We barely got any rain and the occasional wind gusts. God Bless

Do you have something you want to say? Would you care to speculate as to the reasons why I told the man to be quiet for a while? You've come this far. Don't stop now. Let's hear it. And don't come out with this namby-pamby "someone" crap. Have the courage of your convictions. If you're gonna step on my toes, don't be coy about it.
I'm kinda new at this forum management stuff, so, by all means, do proceed. You can provide me with some valuable guidance. I don't have any experience handling situations where one member riles other members on a semi-regular basis. I'm rather indecisive, you see, and I could really use your advice. Why don't you tell me about your experience in mediating a chronic issue in a web forum?

Let's take a moment here, guys, and let me make a couple of things crystal clear for newer members:
I will not tolerate any member making blanket statements about the members of this forum or their behavior. Anyone who wants to troll me- all they have to do is make such comments and I'll be on top of that shit in a New York minute- consistently- each and every time. Guaranteed. In this respect, I am an easy lay.
Don't second-guess the way I go about managing this forum. I'm not interested in the least if some member or group of members disagrees with my actions here. Anyone who is unhappy here, or simply cannot bear the manner in which I go about running this place does not have to stay here.

The local news coverage from Raleigh was terrible. They insist on broadcasting storm coverage 24 hours a day, but only have about 10 minutes an hour of real updates and news. So it is the same old dribble over and over again. Here are 3 actual quotes from WRAL...
"The waves are coming in one right after the other."
"My hat would blow off if I did not hold it on".
"You can see the raindrops on the camera lens".
"While not every Democrat is a horse thief, every horse thief is a Democrat." HORACE GREELEY

I am wondering if, in the Bahamas, Epstein's mansion still stands.
Part of me hopes it does so his victims have something to get, another side of hopes EVERYTHING he owned is destroyed no matter its location.

And the girl wonders why I never watch WRAL...
By 1000 it was sunny here. Gorgeous day. I put everything back out on the patio and dumped one of the jerry cans of fuel in the jeep. Talked to my sister on the Cape and they are expecting wind and rain tomorrow morning. Nothing major. Although she said the local news is making it out to be the end of the world (surprise).

Looks like the Outerbanks has some serious flooding down in the Buxton area. Ocracoke is a mess.
Parts of the Avalon Pier in Kill Devil Hills is gone.
Doesn't seem as bad as a few years ago though.
