What's the best way to get a burner type phone? Key: completely untraceable to me when purchasing and when used. Don't need mail, internet or whatever. Not averse but not necessary. What service provider? What method (pay as you go that I can refill using 'gift cards' purchased any large supermarket, pharmacy, etc)? Do I buy some sort of special SIM card somewhere? Can I just walk into any Walmart or ATT store and pick something up with cash? I haven't bought a phone for myself in more than a decade - company phone. Go to Walmart. Buy PAYG phone with cash for the phone & phone card. Set up using disposable email address and bogus name and address. Simples | |||

Okay - that gets me a phone. For service, can Walmart set it up? Can I just buy an anonymous SIM card at Walmart? Or do I have to go to a service provider like ATT or Verizon? Or is service already set up when the phone is purchased - I'm buying a phone and some initial service (which I can recharge using gift cards)? Sorry, I edited while you were posting. They all come with a built in SIM. Use Tracphone or one of the other PAYG providers. They all piggy back on the big 3. And, yes, you just activate it on the phone with a airtime card. | |||

Just go to a convenience store that advertises “EBT (SNAP)” and buy there. They’ll have a selection. And when they do find you make sure to remove the SIM from the phone and crush the phone. At least that’s what I’ve seen then do in the movies. On a more serious note, I’ve been tempted to buy a throw down phone. Sometimes I’d like to move about without every facet of my life being monitored. | |||

Do some research, not all cell phone services cover every cell area. Learn from my mistake I had to switch to U S Cellular, because my 1st choice had no cell service in my area. Walking in to any cell phone store, they will show you a map of the area That you will be in, and then go by the phone at Target or where ever. Be advised Should you require tech support or User help, The people at Wal Mart, target or the corner stop and Rob , may not offer the help that you need , not have the answers to your tech questions.
