The whole setup seems strange to me. The cord is usually attached to the feet, right? So it would be trailing behind the jumper, and thus behind the two throwing the jumper? Where the cord could catch either of them and pull them off too?

I can't imagine a setup like that without some sort of sense of self-preservation that would make the two throwers check that the cord wouldn't pull them off too.....which would imply checking where the cord was before throwing for their own sake.

I have had many car accidents, some my fault and some others.

I had zero parachuting accidents. I wanted to keep jumping after my ETS but my wife said "Enough, no more."

The camera pans down showing the cord and it looks like they were using simple dynamic climbing rope which is NOT designed for repeated bungee-type jumps. Given the death and the gear shown, this appears to be a slip-shod operation using inapporiate gear not to mention the alarmingly poor safety oversight.

It took a while, but I am (finally) wondering that myself.

And it has me thinking about some of the other videos I've seen. How hard, for example, would it be to make one claiming that some guy forgot his parachute two times in succession? It consisted mostly of stills and images that had nothing to do with the actual supposed incident. That's very common in YouTube videos and I usually attribute that practice as just a way of providing filler for the narration, but why not just invent an entire incident?

Was it reported in 1988? Do we know that the (apparently) old content used in the video was about the incident it claimed to be?

The video was evidently produced two years ago and a lot has happened to make fake productions possible in that short time, so it was not the best example I could have cited.

Yes, it was covered in 1988. I heard about this incident quite a while ago.

Thank you. I used it as an example of the sort of incident that could have been made up with modern techniques 36 years after the fact, but it is good to know that it was legitimate.

I have found some interesting videos on that channel and would have been disappointed to learn if it had been bogus as my example suggested. It just demonstrates how people can make mistakes, and even after being warned once. I have gotten away with making bad mistakes in the past, and they are so seared into my memory that I seldom do anything similar ever again.

Unfortunate tragedy that could have entirely been avoided. Young woman loses her life because someone was too stupid to make sure the bungee chord was attached.

Would that give someone a very sharp jolt once they reach the end of the rope? In other words, no "bounce"?
