A friend lives in the sticks and does not have internet available to his house. He has an iPhone and just bought a new iPad a few days ago. He no longer has a desktop or laptop computer. I've suggested he buy a Brother all in one wireless wifi printer but apparently it won't work without a wifi router. Is there a solution? Thanks

He can use a wifi router for lan functions without internet being connected.

If he's wanting it to be wireless yes. Most wireless printers will accept USB though..

I don't think a USB will work on an IPad

IMO, he should set up the printer with a FIXED IP so all devices will easily find it, and so will he. With a DHCP provided IP it makes things a little more complicated. If knowledgeable enough, better assign / reserve IPs for regular home devices. Some routers already come with an USB port / printer server were you can install a regular or wireless printer if you want to put it near the router. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

My brother has all 3: Ethernet, USB, & Wireless. Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

My Brother has direct wireless if needed, however I don't use it, so unsure how easy/ useful it is. I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

It's called Wireless Ad Hoc Mode and is useful for a peer-to-peer connection. No Wireless "router" required. Only a supporting client.
