You may be referring to a new test, but they've been pushing the A1c and lowering the threshold for "pre-diabetes" for years.

They do love the money. Diet and exercise, tricky stuff. I am glad I keep Pharma's in my portfolio though, they seem to be winning the hearts and minds. Ugh.

Somebody seems to think I’m diabetic (my doctor doesn’t) and I keep getting calls from “Bob” with an Indian accent who starts out informing me he’s in a diabetic center. Before he can offer to sell me whatever their scam is, I’ve been telling him I’m sorry to hear he has that condition and hanging up. Wonder if he’s ever going to get the hint?

Between big Pharma and sports betting it seems like they are buying the lions share of advertising dollars these days. Neither of these things bode well for America.

This is a big pet peeve for me...
I don't think they should be allowed to advertise to the public. These products are only available by prescription and all the ads do is convince people to "talk to [pressure] your doctor".

The "practice" of medicine has been corrupted, mostly by two things: big government, and big pharma.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

"The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth."

I'm pretty confident about that one. There are far better ways to contaminate meds if one wants to thin the population.

Neither parent has a history of diabetes, but at my last checkup I was told my A1C was "high" and I might consider starting medication. Hmm - the look on my face was enough to get a reaction from the nurse. We just changed doctors, due to both the fact we moved 100 miles, and our other family doctor had retired. Our former doctor never even hinted of any A1C issues.

As another poster suggested, i think they assume anyone who is overweight is a candidate.
