Colt
S&W
Glock.
I will elaborate on Glock: Since joining the forum, the hive convinced me to buy a Glock. I have. Often. Now I want Glock to produce a single stack, 10 round 9mm (0r 357) with a stainless steel slide. Real steel night sights. Rail less. For me, that would be my EDC.

Remington. I bought an 870 in .410; I've been wanting one for years. The dang thing would not feed 3 shells in a row without jamming. It went to a warranty center 4 times, and each time it came back and has the same problem. I finally traded it off to a guy who said he didn't care, he would fix it. Luckily, I didn't lose my shirt on it. I wont buy anything with that with the Remington name on it ever again.

I just got an email from them with their new hot products which include an FDE CW9, a snake skin CW pistol, and a gold tiger stripe Tommy gun. Roll Eyes

What about you guys?

I actually just picked up one of those Kryptec Kahrs in the CW9 line. I already have a P9, but I liked the look of the finish. I'm a victim of marketing. Wink

I'm hard pressed to think of any company that I'm disappointed in though. Plenty of them don't interest me, but that's not the topic here.

Beretta...

I love the 92 platform but the M9A3 has been vaporware for the most part, and the few you do find are substandard products with a premium price tag. You want to play with the big boys in the $900 - $1000 price range you had better bring some quality, not the bullshit I saw in the LGS. Shame because I want one, but I wont buy one from the internet because I cant see it first, so I am stuck waiting. How long does it take to launch a new plant? I have built, tested, and launched auto plants much quicker and that is million times more complex an undertaking than a pistol. They need to step up their game.

And Sig a little as well... I know shit happens, but the recent P320 issue, the finish on the Legions, teasing a P225 then it not being a P225 (nothing wrong with the pistol, but its not a P225), the 2 year waits from products shown at SHOT to street dates, lack of x-change kits, non-compatibility with the .45ACP (which I really liked on my P250), issues with the MCX, etc.

A lot of them do seem to have gone the way of 'cost cutting' versus focus on quality.

But in terms of CHOICES we have probably never had it better...

Kind of a toss-up.

I am not a hater as I have some of their guns, but for me it would be Glock as they have no innovation or imagination. They just play it safe with all their designs. They may not make the best guns, but Keltec and Taurus at least tries to be innovative with new ideas and manufactures it. God Bless Smile

Did you just compare Glock to Keltec and Taurus? In my opinion that's not an apples to apples comparison, Glock makes pistols that I trust with my life and the other two basically make junk that I wouldn't own as a range gun. I'm not a gun snob, I have friends that buy those two brands against my recommendation and they usually have problems. I have 5 glocks and 2 sigs and none of them have ever given me an issue and both are old "play it safe" designs.

I believe Tenifer was banned by the EPA.

According to wiki-fu, Tenifer is just a trademarked name for the process. Glock uses the same process, just not through that company.

Remington hands down.

I don't care for locks on my S&Ws, so I don't have any with locks.

None. I dont keep expectations. Smile.

I basically agree, but I will say some still manage to disappoint, like Remington with Marlin, or SIG and their awesome announcements with meh-to-worse followthroughs or just plain odd decisions, etc.

The result of it all pretty much stifles any excitement anymore (. Like, I don't even know if I'll ever buy a New gun again, except the most utilitarian tool like a G19, lest I unwittingly become an Alpha or Beta tester on something rushed to market or launched then forgotten, or what have you (see: MPX, Optics, P220 10mm, "P225" reissue, anything modular).

I guess I'm saying, my only expectations are the ones they set themselves, and my only disappointment is when I actually believe them yet they fail to deliver somehow, which seems more often than not.

Mostly I stand back, wait patiently, and only bother with proven, used, rock solid bets.

Whatever finish they're using now is cosmetically different and inferior than their older, more desirable "diamond sparkle" tenifer finish.

Ed Brown
Few years ago I started looking for a good 1911 in 9mm. Found one new at a gun store, a 9mm Executive Target. When I dry fired it I knew the trigger was terrible but decided to get it and send back to them. When I called they were apologetic and told me to send it back.
When I got it back I was 100% sure they never touched it. When I called them again they blew me off and said that was a good as they could get, a 5 lb pull that felt like dragging a brick across the road.

Ruger.

They are my favorite company but I've gotten a few rovolvers from them which I can't understand how they left the factory in such condition.
