My handgun is always in my holster. Do you guys tend to keep your original handgun box or do you just throw them away? I've kept the box for years now but it just takes shelf space. I will never sell the handgun.

Is there a reason to keep it? Otherwise, I think I'm going to recycle it.

Thanks. Other than for your generous karmas or sales, any reason? Or no particular reason, just prefer to keep them, even for ones you’ll always keep?

Even for the guns I keep. Also, keep them for the eventual move, whenever that is. But even the guns I keep will eventually be disposed of. You can’t take them with you, you know? Wink

I keep them. Have big piles of them. I finally started getting rid of the unwieldy cardboard boxes a lot of rifles come in.

I actually have a stack of maybe 8 or 10 P320 boxes from guns I bought and parted out that I can't quite bring myself to throw away, even though I have nothing left but the box.

Keep all handgun boxes because one way or another the guns will eventually go to someone else. Cardboard rifle boxes get trashed but i keep the end tab that usually has all the info on it.

I keep mine as well. Even the ones I keep will eventually go to my children and they’ll be worth more to them with the original box.

I keep all the handgun boxes, and I’ve only kept one rifle box for those. Dunno why, I don’t use the boxes when I moved, everything got wrapped in a quilt and put in the trunk of a car or was in a pelican box (pistols)

I have only bought a few new guns, and they were years ago,
so I kept the boxes (all handguns, never bought a new rifle) and have them stacked up (all maybe 4 of them)
do have a few High Standards in the original box, and
do have one shotgun that is in it's original box (Belgian Browning A5)

If you, or your heirs, ever want to sell a gun they usually fetch higher prices with the original box.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Unless it is a popular or rare gun, having the box when selling it will not add value. People think it does but nobody cares if your Jimenez comes with the original packaging.

I keep boxes, including those for my long guns. I believe (but can't prove) that the box makes them easier to sell or trade. With collectibles in particular, the original box definitely adds to the value (again, I can't say how much). Provided you still have the gun that went in the box, it can't hurt to keep it. They don't take up much space.

I recently bought a used firearm and specifically asked if the box and manual were still with it. (The box was, the manual wasn't, but was easily obtained for the asking.)

I keep them, I carry one gun at a time.

If I have to move them or to take them for service, I use the box.

My handgun boxes, manuals and locks are stored in plastic totes in the attic. Long gun boxes are in one of the xl Christmas totes, also in the attic.

I've got the hard plastic cases, which almost all of mine came in.

Kept the cardboard box my Tikka came in, turned out to be nearly perfect for my daughter's takedown recurve bow.

The rest, were either assembled [ARs] or gifted to me, without the boxes.

Thanks guys. I don't think the boxes will ever be needed but I'll continue to keep for now - I'll try to store in the attic. I'll need to find some plywood or something to lay down a 'floor' on top of the blown insulation.
