That was pretty good.
Today they had a Helluva Good Ranch (that’s the actual name) and it is really good.

Blind taste test with 4 judges - Utz, Clancy's (Aldi) and Lays were judged in a blind taste test.

Results #1. Clancy's 3 votes, Utz 1 vote.

Utz #2 and Lay's #3 but both tasted similar to me. Not enough salt was #1 complaint on both Utz and Lay's.

Favorite dip around here is Lipton's Beefy Onion Soup mix mixed with sour cream. Crumbled bacon if I'm showing off. Cool

We love Utz. It has been one of those pleasant surprises from when we moved from Texas.

Utz recently bought out Golden Flake, which was founded and headquartered in Birmingham. Although the GF name was retained, chips are no longer made in Birmingham. GF was a big sponsor for Bear Bryant's football review on TV for years. GF's "Sweet Heat" is one of my favorites.

These are the only Utz chips I will eat now:

Kettle-style, fried in lard, so what if you can feel your arteries clogging up as you eat them! Big Grin

I love Utz and am a huge fan of Herr's as well. Glad to see they're in your area!

In the process they stopped making their pork rinds that only had pork skin and smoke flavor. Now the Golden Flake brand has sugar and maltodextrin. Trying to stay keto, this pissed me off. I make tortillas and carnivore bread crumbs with pork rinds but can no longer find any without sugar.

These go to eleven.

Ahhh, memories.

They are definitely good but they use to be much better. I grew up with this brand, back when they were regional, only available in the Mid Atlantic.

Utz was family owned until purchased by a hedge fund. After that they grew the brand and changed the recipe.

I remember taking my kids through the Utz factory in Hanover, PA. It was fascinating. Dump trucks full of dirt and potatos backing up and dumping on one end, boxes of chips coming out on the other end.

I remember buying Utz by bulk by the pound at Lexington Market in Baltimore. They's scoop them into wax paper bags for you.

I no longer eat chips but thanks for the memories.
