As anti-gun as Bezos is, I'd rather we didn't give him the idea that Alexa should control access to our self-defense assets.
I can see it now. Armed home invaders are smashing a front door down.
Homeowner: "Alexa, I need guns, NOW!"
Alexa: "I require voice print authentication to do that."
Homeowner: "Alexa, its me! Open the damned hideaway."
Alexa: "I'm sorry, Dave, I can't do that."
Homeowner: "WHAT!?!?! Why??? And who the hell is Dave??!!"
Alexa: "Dave, I can't give you access to the guns because you consumed six ounces of 100 proof gin in the last 94 minutes."
Homeowner: "I did not!! Dave must have drunk that gin. I need guns now or I'm going to get killed when these intruders make it to the master bedroom!! PLLEEEEAAASSSSEEEE give me guns!"
Alexa: "Dave, you seem extremely agitated. You should take two anti-stress tablets and lie down."
Homeowner: "Alexa you killed me!!"
Shots are fired by the intruders.
Alexa: "Always happy to help, Dave. Its been 96 minutes since you last consumed gin. Let me open the gun hideaway for you."

Don't really have any interest in owning one of those (or Alexa for that matter), but that would be a fun project to build for someone else.

Does it use voice recognition for a specific person or can I walk into the house and ask for guns.
Alexa works with a lot of different Wifi devices. Lights and such. Guessing it wouldn't be hard for someone that knows this tec to connect one of those wifi devices to tell a switch to turn on and open something. I think you can call it whatever you want.
I have a friend that uses it to turn on/off lights. Alexa "turn on the living room" or Alexa "turn off bedroom".

I won't trust Alexa as far as I could throw it. Also, if you don't want the guvmint to know you have guns, is letting Alexa know better?

My first thought is that it is waaaay too slow. Too much could happen before the guns are revealed.
And I would not want Alexa in my house, much less controlling something important. In times of stress, I may not be able to access what I need in a hurry.

Alexa works for anyone.
I was at a friend’s house and he kept playing 90s music so I would tell Alexa to play 80s music. It just listens for Alexa.

I like the cabinet but I would be afraid Alexa will Narc out my arsenal and stash.

That cabinet is cool but I am with Sig2340. I prefer to have none of the voice command, video surveillance, etc., in my home with as many times there have been problems with them.

Couldn’t you just program the cabinet to respond to a different phrase?
“Alexa, I need condoms.”
How would the government know what kind of fun you’ve got stashed in the drawer?

Nice concept, but no thanks. I will stick with a gun safe I can access in half the time that thing accessed the rifles and I don’t need power. Plus I don’t trust Alexa, Echo, or any other listening device.

The government probably wouldn't know, but you'll start getting messages from Amazon showing their selection of condoms.

. That is true with the exception of Prime purchasing via Alexa. One can activate a numerical code that is given to Alexa with the purchase command.
