Will they be treated like the J6 protestors? Hell no

Nine staffers and producers for the Stephen Colbert Show were arrested at the U.S. Capitol for attempting to breaking into a House building after-hours. Fox News’ Chad Pergram confirmed the news on Friday.

“Fox confirms that group of persons associated with The Late Show Stephen Colbert were arrested last night and charged with illegal entry to House office buildings after hours,” Pergram wrote on Twitter. “Fox is told the people were arrested in the Longworth House Office Building.”

“The group was in the Cannon House Office Building earlier in the day trying to get interviews around the time of the 1/6 committee hearing,” Pergram continued. “However, USCP shooed them away because they did not have proper press credentials.”

“However, the group surfaced later that night after the Capitol complex was closed to the public Fox is told they took pictures and video around the offices of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO),” the report added. “They were unescorted and arrested and charged with illegal entry. They were arrested near Boebert’s office. They were released overnight. Fox has confirmed the arrests of these nine persons through a senior House source.”

The following were arrested, per the report. (This updates the list to nine total.)

Jake Plunkett
Allison Martinez
Tyrone Dean
Stephen Romond
Nicoletta Green
Brendan Hurley
Robert Smigel
Josh Comers
David Feldman
“Robert Smigel is known for being the voice of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog,” Pergram noted. “He also produced short cartoons for Saturday Night Live’s ‘TV Funhouse’.”

The report added the following notes.

USCP have issued the following statement: “On June 16, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) received a call for a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building.”

USCP: “Responding officers observed seven individuals, unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway.”

USCP: “The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day.”

USCP: “They were charged with Unlawful Entry. This is an active criminal investigation, and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney.”

Fox News reported more information, per legal analyst Jonathan Turley.

“Jesse Watters just aired a report that a crew with Stephen Colbert were arrested last night at the Capitol and charged with unlawful entry,” Turley noted. “Two members were mentioned as allowing them into the building, including House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff. Rep. Rodney Davis seemed to confirm the basic facts in the segment. While much still have to be confirmed on the details, the charge would be the same as most of those who were arrested in connection to the Jan. 6th riot.”

“The segment suggested that they were banging on doors as part of the skit with a comedian who has appeared on the show,” Turley added.

As Chuck Callesto noted on Twitter, the staffers included high-level producers. If this were Fox News, you could only imagine the media meltdown. Since it is Stephen Colbert illegally attempting to harass Republican House members, it will be interesting to see how widely this attempted “insurrection” is reported.

Dr. Simone Gold Sentenced to Two Months in Prison

https://www.theepochtimes.com/...3dm3tVgJFWzh2LQOVbY3

A California doctor has been sentenced to two months in prison for being involved in the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol and stepping inside the restricted premises along with her co-defendant John Strand.

Dr. Simone Melissa Gold was initially charged with entering a restricted building or grounds, violent entry, and disorderly conduct, and arrested on Jan. 18, 2021. She spent two days in custody. On March 3, 2022, she pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of illegally entering the restricted building. Gold was sentenced June 16 to serve 60 days in jail, one year of supervised release, pay a $9,500 fine, and $500 restitution.

Gold is the founder of America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS), a nonprofit that has spoken out against the emergency use authorization of COVID-19 vaccines and promoted the use of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine during the initial days of the pandemic.

While inside the building, Gold delivered a speech through a megaphone to a crowd gathered in Statuary Hall, where she stated her opposition to the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and government-imposed lockdowns.

Gold expressed regret for entry into the Capitol building in a Jan. 12 interview with The Washington Post. “During the same interview Strand stated that he was also inside the U.S. Capitol with Gold and was there to protect Gold,” according to an official statement.

“I was misguided. I should not have entered,” Gold said. “Everything I did on January 6, misguided or not, was consistent with my effort to do my best for people.” She sounded emotional when she told Cooper that she was “shocked” the prosecutors believed she was not remorseful and did not intend to take part “in a situation that was so destructive to our nation.”

Regarding Gold’s sentencing, an AFLDS press release on Thursday said, “Like most January 6 defendants, she is a victim of selective prosecution—the defining feature of corrupted governments.”

The Epoch Times has reached out to AFLDS for comment.

However, district Judge Christopher Cooper, a Barack Obama appointee, said that AFLDS was “leaving people with the misimpression that this is a political prosecution or that it’s about free speech,” as he delivered the sentence.

“January 6 was about a lot of things, but it wasn’t about the First Amendment or COVID vaccinations … the only reason you are here is where and when and how you chose to express your view,” Cooper said.

Gold had raised over $400,000 for her and the organization’s legal issues. Cooper said that the funds were a “disservice to the true victims that day.”

Gold’s attorney Dickson Young asked for a sentence of community medical service, stating that his client did not commit or incite violence.

“The loss of our country’s freedoms,” said Gold in a tweet on Friday regarding the sentencing.

Over 800 people have been charged with federal crimes over the breach on Jan. 6, with 300 pleading guilty and nearly 200 sentenced.

I despise, detest, and LOATHE Colbert as much as Bill Maher. They are both asshats, but I gotta hand it to Maher…at least his rhetoric changes with the political winds. Colbert can eat a bag of dicks…

Federal prosecutors decline to prosecute Stephen Colbert's team for unlawful entry into Capitol

Same U.S. Attorney's office that has prosecuted Jan. 6 protesters declined Capitol Police request for charges.

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

The same U.S. Attorney's office that has prosecuted scores of Jan. 6 protesters for trespassing and other crimes has declined to prosecute nine members of TV comedian Stephen Colbert's The Late Show production team for unlawful entry into a congressional office building, Capitol Police announced Monday evening.

"The United States Capitol Police (USCP) has been working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia on the June 16, 2022, Unlawful Entry case that involved a group of nine people associated with The Late Show," the department said in a press release.

"The United States Capitol Police was just informed the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia is declining to prosecute the case," they added.

Capitol Police said they arrested the nine producers on unlawful entry charges, saying "members of the group had been told several times before they entered the Congressional buildings that they had to remain with a staff escort inside the buildings and they failed to do so."

Capitol Police said they "respect the decision that office has made" but also signaled some unhappiness with the decision by telling the media the U.S. attorney would have to explain its reasoning. "Any questions about that decision should be referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia," it said.

Colbert has made light of the conduct of his arrested staffers, saying they were only guilty of "first-degree puppetry."

I don't think so. It's a different mindset.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I am not sure why this would surprise anyone. The fix was in the minute they were let into the building.

This is no different than Nancy Pelosi stock trade story. She said that she has no idea her husband did this, yea right.

The Bodega owner in NY who was charged with manslaughter for defending himself and bail was set at $500,000 while the same democratic District Attorney lets career criminal free on no bail.

Imagine you and your Democratic neighbors have hatted each other for years. Then one day you come home to find their house has been broken into.
That night the police come to your house and arrest you for the crime to your neighbors house. You tell them you did not do it and you have proof however they arrest you anyway and say tell it to the judge. You bond out of jail and gather your evidence of your innocence.

You hire an attorney and show up for the trial. You look into the court room to see the Judge is the Grandfather of the of the owners of the neighbors house you accused of breaking into. Then you see the jury is made up of the owners of the house you are accused of breaking into. You think this can't be right, this is unfair, they hate me and have since I moved into the big White House in the neighborhood.
You see there are a couple of people who should be on your side but they are not because they also have hatted you for years.

You go through the trial and you are not aloud to present any real evidence to prove your innocence or witness to contradict what the prosecutor has presented.

As this is going on the main stream media ignores the conflict and has the same agenda as the Judge, the Jury and the prosecutor to make sure you are never able to move back into that big White House in the neighborhood.

Sound familiar?

I could go on and on and on.

The people in charge, their friends and people with the right agenda "their agenda"can break the law and suffer no consequence, just look at the southern boarder.

This is how our system of laws is working today and will until people win the White House, The Congress and the Senate with a sense of what is right and fair for all.
As of right now this is not what we have not only in Washington but across the country.

Colbert crew's behavior in Capitol complex caused Democrat staffer to call for emergency help

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

Stephen Colbert's comedy crew was warned "several times" it could not trespass on Capitol grounds, and its behavior in a congressional office building during an unauthorized nighttime visit was so boisterous it caused a Democratic congressman's staff to fear for his safety and call for emergency help, police say.

The description that authorities provided members of Congress this week — loud banging on doors, talk of a "cocaine orgy" and threats to place something under a congressman's door — is far different than the light-hearted account of "first-degree puppetry" that the CBS television comic offered after last month's high-profile arrest of his team.

The decision by the Biden Justice Department to decline prosecution of nine Colbert staffers for unlawful entry clearly upset the department, according to an official letter from the department's chief obtained by Just the News.

"It is unfortunate that despite all of the evidence the Department presented, including that the group or its leader had been told several times that they could not be in the buildings without an escort, that the U.S. Attorney's office declined to prosecute any members of the group for Unlawful Entry," Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger wrote Republican Reps. Rodney Davis of Illinois and Jim Jordan of Ohio in a letter dated Tuesday.

Manger revealed in the letter that the nine members of Colbert's staff who were arrested June 16 for unauthorized access to a House office building had previously been rejected for press credentials by the House Radio/TV Gallery, had been warned multiple times they could not stay in Capitol buildings without an escort, and were ejected by police from the complex just hours before their arrest for violating building rules.

The chief also revealed that two of the nine staffers when arrested refused to cooperate, citing their Miranda rights, and that one of the staffers initially falsely told responding police officers the Colbert crew was "credentialed staff."

The arrests occurred after an aide to Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman called police because he felt threatened by the team's behavior and feared for his safety. The crew was pretending to place invitations to a "cocaine orgy" at the Capitol and was boisterous but not filming at the time police arrested them, the letter states.

"On June 16, 2022, at approximately 8:26 p.m., the United States Capitol Police (USCP) communications center received a call from a staffer for Rep. Jamaal Bowman, (D-NY) working in Room 1605 of the Longworth House Office Building (LHOB)," the letter said, redacting the staffer's name. "He advised he could hear a man shouting outside his office, which is next to Rep. Lauren Boebert's office (R-Colo.)."

The Bowman aide, the letter continued, "stated he heard a man banging on Rep Boebert's office door saying, 'Do you remember me? Do you remember me? It's me. We're going to leave something under your door.'"

The Bowman aide "stated he was very concerned, locked his office door for safety and called the USCP emergency number," according to Manger.

Davis, the top Republican on the House Administration Committee, which oversees Capitol security, told Just the News on Tuesday night that federal prosecutors' decision to decline prosecution of the Colbert team only further created the perception of a two-tier system of justice.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Washington D.C. that made the Colbert decision is the same one that has prosecuted scores of Jan. 6 defendants for trespassing and other crimes related to the Capitol riot.

"The decision by the Department of Justice to not pursue the charges recommended by USCP further highlights the politicization of Capitol security and the double standard for Democrats," Davis said. "This detailed response and corresponding evidence makes clear that the Colbert crew knew what they were doing was wrong, but they wouldn't have to deal with any consequences."

Manger's letter states that when police apprehended the team members, they claimed to be filming a skit, but no cameras were found operating.

One of the arrested crew members "disclosed the group's intention was to film comic skits with a puppet (Triumph the Insult Dog) outside the offices of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA-R), Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-R), Rep. Lauren Boebert, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (GA-R)," the letter stated.

The "officer did not witness the team filming at the time he responded, but noted the group had multiple backpacks and folded-up signs with them when he made initial contact," the letter added. One of the crew members "stated that the group was pretending to leave notes under the Member's doors as part of the skits, but did not actually leave anything," Manger explained. "The note was allegedly an invitation to a cocaine orgy."

Police said the crew did not have any official appointments on the day they were arrested but did have appointments a day earlier when they remained with their escorts inside congressional buildings. Staff from the offices of Democratic Reps. Jake Auchincloss and Ted Lieu were involved in helping the crew gain access to the congressional office buildings, the letter stated.

One of the Colbert crew members told the police who arrested her that police had warned the crew when they first entered the building "that they needed to stay with their staff escort at all times" and that earlier in the day they were ejected from a different congressional office building for not having an escort. Another admitted that the House press gallery, which rejected a request for press credentials, also had warned the crew they could not remain in the building unescorted, the letter stated.

Police officers decided to arrest all nine crew members when they were encountered later that night because they "determined the group had violated the building regulations a second time," the letter stated.

Right. We've seen these behavior for a long time from the local to federal levels. It's nothing unusual, just how things work.
