I'm an infrequent coffee drinker, however when the temps drop, I'll tear-open a package of instant hot chocolate in the morning. I recently picked up some Nestle's and it was awful, it was cheap so not a surprise and Swiss Miss seems to be the next step up.

What other brands does the forum enjoy:

Water add for the convenient?

Milk add for the purists?

You're right, the last few times I've had that kind of chocolate it was not good and definitely made my stomach sour.

I've picked up some other kinds like from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and it was much much better, of course with the appropriate price.

I have an espresso machine with one of those steamer wands. I added some Torani chocolate syrup in milk, then ran it in the steamer until I had a slightly foamy hot chocolate. That was nice very nice...

Once upon a time you could get the Butternut brand in the envelope package. It was really good. I miss it.

I think I need to learn of some quality ingredients and make my own mix.

Always been a Swiss Miss fella myself. Of course, it has to have stale baby marshmallows on top as well or it's not near as good. I keep an open bag of them in the cupboard for just that reason.

Every once in a while I will feel like some hot chocolate. I like Swiss Miss but I use an envelope and a half to get it where i like it. 1% milk, no water. Marshmallows are standard fare.

Every year at the Christmas Market my church does, there is a table where they sell a homemade cocoa mix that is pretty good. Otherwise, I just use Swiss Miss.

I have an empty can of this mix that was pretty good. I think I got it at our church's Mission Market: https://shop.equalexchange.coo...c-hot-cocoa-mix-12oz. They have a dark chocolate versions, too (I wouldn't like it).

I see that Cadbury's offers a hot chocolate mix. I've not tried it, but I am very fond of their milk chocolate, so it might be very good. (Has good reviews.) https://britishfooddepot.com/c...-EAQYDSABEgI5vPD_BwE

I think some powdered milk would also be needed.

Cafe Britt gourmet hot cocoa is pretty good. Sadly their mint version is no longer made.

Been enjoying Godiva. They have two flavors - milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Both are very, very good. A bit pricey but if it’s something you really enjoy, worth it.

I use Swiss Miss, but use fresh brewed coffee instead of water.

They’re all pretty awful.

You can easily make hot cocoa with Hershey’s cocoa, sugar and hot milk plus a touch of vanilla and a pinch of salt.

I've had more hot chocolate recently because my wife likes it. She will sometimes have it mixed with the instant coffee I use (Elite) for an afternoon pick me up.

She uses Swiss Miss, but the Dark Chocolate kind. We have to get it at Target because they are the only one's in the area who stock it. It's the only thing we buy there (since the whole tranny bathroom policy thing) so we will have as much as 6 boxes at any given time.

The dark is pretty good. I prefer it now.

Use this recipe and make a big batch of your own hot chocolate mix. You'll NEVER use the pre-packaged stuff again. My wife usually makes a big Tupperware container full, because it gets used alot in the winter.

I did a double take when I saw the cayenne in there. I think I’ll give that a try!

My employment forces me to be a morning person so I have to stop off at the local store for my morning coffee like so many others. I get their large size, and I start off with whatever brand of hot chocolate that comes out of the dispenser. I then add their French vanilla and then in goes the coffee. Literally, I get my morning hot chocolate/French vanilla with a third of whatever coffee is available at the time.

I just picked up some Swiss Miss a couple of weeks ago, and I still haven't finished my Hershey’s. I was using HEB's hot chocolate until I started boycotting them. So I'm not a connoisseur, but a frequent consumer.

For years as a kid as the weather started to turn colder around this time, mom would practically fill a roasting pan with a mixture of Nestlé hot cocoa carnation powdered milk and sugar to keep us going through the winter.

All growed up now so a quality cocoa powder, heavy cream and stevia is the ticket when I need a hot liquid chocolate fix.
