So I have a 2004 Acura MDX that I'm thinking about trading in for a 2018 or newer MDX.

And trim package or model year I should avoid? Have there been any issues with the hybrid?

Any general thoughts?

I drove the 2018's when I was shopping in 18. Very nice vehicles. If $ weren't a consideration it would have been my choice.

My wife drives a 2020 MDX tech awd, been a great vehicle for the past 8 months.
Before that she owned a 2013 for 6 years and 70k miles with absolutely no issues or problems.

Ive had 2, one of which was a hybrid. Absolutely reliable and zero maintenance other than routine oil changes and tires through over 150k between them. Great vehicle IMHO. Tech is a little stale unless you get the new one, but coming from an older version, you will be impressed. I will be looking at the type S which is due out soon.

Thanks all, that's what I expected. Mine has 240k miles, and I have had no issues other than the nav system/backup camera going out, which is common to my model year. Also common is the transmission going bad, but since I have had no problems with mine, I'm guessing the previous owner had that fixed before I bought it.

Now if I can find one...

IIRC, the 3.7 had some issues with oil consumption & they don't get the best MPGs, especially with AWD.

Finally found a 2019 MDX Advance that suited me. I'm still learning it, but I'm a little surprised at some of the lack of customization of features. For example, I can't permanently turn off the auto-engine-shutoff at red lights. I can turn it off each time I get in the car, but I can't permanently disable it (that I can find so far, lol).

Otherwise, it's very nice, and I am quite pleased. Really smooth compared to my 2004, ha ha.

If Honda allowed it to be permanently disabled it would defeat the reason they designed it in the car which is a higher mpg number on the EPA window sticker.

I'm trying out the Auto-shutdown for a couple of tanks of gas to see how it improves mileage.

My biggest complaint at this time is that the Android Auto on my phone shuts down all of the other apps on my phone. I'm trying to find out a workaround for that, but nothing has worked so far.
