The Moen I have now is leaking. I only knew this when I was standing in a puddle on my kitchen floor. Admittedly this is after a lit of years.

Standing in HD, looking a a few faucets from different brands (Moen, Pfister, and the aforementioned Glacier Bay), there didn't seem to be a lot of difference. This could go to what Skins was saying about stuff bought in HD. I have a feeling they're all built to a price point.

From the outside, you may not see a difference. Pick up a Glacier Bay and similar Kohler and see if you can feel the difference. There is definitely a difference between them. Some may have specific USP codes for some vendors, I'm not sure but the big brands are not selling something at HD that is different in any major way then what they sell to plumbing supply houses.

I bought a shower diverter from Ferguson Plumbing today. I could drive to HD and get the same diverter. What was the difference? At Fergusons, the diverter came in a plain box and the trim kit came in another plain box. Why because of most big suppliers use the same diverter with multiple trims kits. At HD both would have come in a fancy shiny box with pictures on it. Both diverters are the exact same. This was for a Moen but holds true all the major brands.

I have an American Standard kitchen faucet bought about 1975, and still going strong. Never even replaced the cartridge.

In my 50th year of plumbing, currently Delta seems to be the top brand. Moen used to be my favorite, but they fall far short in their lower lines, using pot metal in many, and it doesn't play well with water.

My experience with Glacier Bay is the same, as is the lower lines of Kohler, Price Phister and others.

Pretty much, if you buy a faucet that is under or around a $100, it may work well for awhile, but the fit and finish will be lacking down the road.

A good faucet is an investment, make your choice considering this and you won't regret it.

I had a Glacier Bay, it started leaking in less than a year. I could not get replacement parts from HD. I will not ever buy another.

I bought a new house in March and installed a Delta kitchen faucet with Spray Shield. I don't normally geek about stuff like that but the spray shield thing is so awesome. It has a very small jet of water that absolutely obliterates anything on a dirty dish or pan. It cost a little more but I don't regret it one bit and would do it again.

I'd avoid, they are the low-end house brand for Home Depot aren't they?

My kitchen faucet is a GB as is most every other fixture in the kitchen and bathrooms in this house, installed by the previous owner right before they sold it. There is some sort of coating that is delaminating from the surface, and you need to fiddle with it to get warm water instead of full on hot or full on cold (that could just be due to idiots installing it, after all they did run hot water to the half bath toilet and reversed the hot and cold lines on that bathroom sink).

I should never have bought this house.

Never go cheap on plumbing. The potential damage FAR exceeds the cost of quality stuff

I avoid Glacier Bay because in my experience the money saved doesn’t equal the quality you lose out on.

I figured I'd post an update.

I had said I called Moen. They diagnosed it as needing a new valve cartridge, and send one free under the warranty. I was skeptical this would do the job. But in the end, I waited for it to arrive (which took over a week.) When it came I installed it, and it did, if fact, solve the problem.

So in the end, no new faucet was needed. I do appreciate the advice, and will keep it in mind the next time I need a faucet.
