Moving to a new house
After 25 years my wife and I are moving to a smaller, nicer, patio home. I have mixed feelings about moving. Not that I ever like this house all that much but I was very close to being mortgage free.

Now all I have to do is pack, clean, move, unpack and then clean and make some repairs to my old house to put on the market and hope it sells quickly.

Hopefully things are back to normal by june Cool

Congratulations! Downsizing is a big step.

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

I went from a 30x24’ detached garage to a single car attached garage…I can feel the pain. With my reloading stuff I found https://inlinefabrication.com/...ress-mounting-system very helpful with space saving.

I have a flush mount and put trimmer, powder throw, press, another press all on the wall with the storage plates. And even put my vise on a plate, so I can remove each item and stow it neatly out of the way-except the vise-it goes on a bucket by my feet-it’s too heavy to lift up over my shoulder height.

Put all my dies and stuff in a rolling tool chest that slides under the bench.

I am going from a 26x36 three stall to a smaller 3 stall. I could continue to reload but I havent really done alot and I wanted to enjoy it I just didnt. Now seemed like the time to sell it rather than move it all.

It's hard downsizing but I imagine you'll be glad you did.

I moved my parents back in 2023...we spent the previous 2-years making constant runs to the dump and various community organizations as we worked to shrink their lifetime of accumulated shit. Granted not all of it was shit but, I had one truck run that was only filled with empty computer program boxes (my dad saved all packaging Roll Eyes) various cases of CD ROM, mini-disks & floppys, numerous hard drives, cables of all types & generations, volumes of programing & software books, printer cartridges of various generations...he saved every printer he'd ever owned. Yes, I did find a couple of cases of green-bar paper with the drive-holes running along the edges.

Congratulations and good luck on the move. Being able to downsize and reduce a lifetime of accumulated things, at least for many people is a massive stress reliever.

I imagine it will be. I wanted a spend 600 bucks on a roll of and dump everthing in that but my wife seems to think that was excessive. So instead my SIL and I will have to make 5-6 trips to the dump at an hour a piece Roll Eyes

To me location is everything. Living someplace I did not love or at the very least really liked would be a no go. I cannot really phantom living in a place I really did not like for 25 years. I hope where you are moving to is the fulfillment of a dream.

I had to do alot of work on the house and I have terrible handy man skill. so a lot of stress over the years. But I raised 3 kids there so it is bitter sweet.

The new location is in a better neighbhorhood and closer to shopping, my parents and sister. Also very close to my wifes work like 4 blocks close. I will have a longer drive to work for the next year until I retire. My wife has 9 more years of work. Also have a flat driveway and yard. unlike my current house. SO a lot of positives. The location realluy sold us on the house. hoping everything goes well till closing on April 3rd!!

I'm going from an 1,800 SF house with a 1,800 SF basement...

To a similar-sized house with no basement.

Plus, moving what we have 1,300 miles.

This is not what I call fun...

Evil exists. You can not negotiate with, bribe or placate evil. You're not going to be able to have it sit down with Dr. Phil for an anger management session either.
