A few years back my wife had an obstructing kidney stone that led to sepsis and 2 surgeries. I consider it an honor to have taken care of her during that time and continue to do so.

You guys have my utmost respect. Mine has seen me through quite a few medical issues. Now her knee is acting up. It will be my time shortly. We have to care for each other. Thanks for the reminder.

So a little different spin on the topic. My wife found out a couple years back she has Parkinson's. After the initial panic, fear, and pissed off period, we have settled in to deal with that and right now her symptoms are minor. I have nonetheless settled in to knowing my roll as care taker down the road.

I have always tried to do little things around the house that I can do. I recently re-worked all the caulk, drywall, etc repairs, and then repainted our sunroom. A lot of work over several days, that went so well I decided to repeat with the master bedroom. As I was finishing up painting the crown molding. my ladder leaning against the wall, slid down, trapped my leg and foot in the fall process. Now, dislocated ankle, broken leg bone in two places, no load bearing for 12 weeks.

Now I have added to my wife's tasks as opposed to the opposite.

Morale of the story is to take care of what is important instead of farting with shit that can hurt you in your old age. I'll be 71 this week, and really feel like I let my wife down. Fortunately I will recover and she will tend to my ass in the process.

I sit here now, like PHPaul, feet on the desk, waiting on Amazon to get around to delivering me a knee scooter.

Don't be a dumbass like me.

As we age , simple things get more hazardous . I had an Ortho Doctor tell me " Us old folks don't heal as fast as we used to " .

yeah, the ER doc advised that he knew 4 women, all widows after their husbands retired, then died falling off a ladder.
