No explanation, just reads the announcement from a piece of paper and doesn't answer reporters' questions. Doesn't say what his plans are, which is scary.

Obviously, details are sketchy, but when you hook this in with US Congresscritter Luis Gutierrez leaving the state for Puerto Rico next year, something's up.

When I told my girlfriend about this, her first reaction was that Rahm may be making room for Obama to run for Mayor, which makes as much sense as anything the political pundits are coming up with.

Run for governor, perhaps? The incumbent's a good guy compared to the Chicago liberals, and I'm sure that's pissed off the Dem machine in the state to no end.

He's way too centrist to run for president as a Democrat these days, and his association with the Clintons is a negative as far as the progressives are concerned. Too late to run for governor.

My guess is that he saw the writing on the wall, knew he was going to lose and will look to get a cabinet position in a Dem administration in 2020.

And I doubt Obama has any intention of running for any office. He's retired, makes bank from his federal pension, can charge any price for speaking fees, and has a tax payer paid travel and security team.

Did he do something too villainous for the Daly political crime machine to sweep under the rug?

According to the information on Second City Cop Blog, none of tiny dancer's (Rahm) polls showed him having any chance of winning.

He probably wants out of there before the Laquan McDonald trial starts and ends. If PO Van Dyke is convicted, they will riot in celebration and if he is acquitted, they will riot in anger.....resulting deaths, injuries, and property damage will be about the same.

The article says he has $10 Million in his re-election fund.

Does he get to keep that to help ease his pain??
