Yep, I always took it as a perfect statement about his presidency. Half the country wanted Hillary. We got what we needed instead: Trump.

I personally think President DJT is the grand-master of trolling.

He has this subtle way of saying "Fuck you" to the cry baby's out there. Just ever so eloquent in his approach.

He is one guy I would not want to get into a pissing match with.
99.999% of the time, HES RIGHT- hard to battle with them facts.
He has this way of tossing it back in their faces after they cry.

That is a dig at big government, big spending left wingers. They promise the world and that they can always deliver anything their base wants.

Conservatives have always had to sell the message that you can’t always get what you want, we can’t always afford it. We are like the adult in a split family who tells the children to eat their vegetables, but the other irresponsible parent tells them they can eat candy for dinner. It’s a hard message to sell. No one wants to be told they have to eat their vegetables even though that is what is good for them and what is needed.

Also we conservatives have this problem: Imagine America’s leaders are like the husband in a dysfunctional marriage. The American people are the wife. The husband works a modest job as a manager at a local store. The wife has slowly demanded more and more expensive gifts over the years. The diamond rings, the gold necklaces, are no longer enough. Now she is demanding European vacations, expensive luxury cars, etc. The husband (the conservative) has to explain that he would love to provide them, but they can’t afford them. Her boy toy on the side (progressives) promises to deliver those things with new credit cards on the family account; he promises to charge them up buying expensive cars and a European vacation. And so each take turns trying to win her over either with the message of fiscal responsibility, versus instant gratification.

And so, Donald Trump’s team uses that song as a theme message any Republican would recognize.

I agree this is part of the message. He didn't just start this recently. It was his campaign theme song in 2016.
