jhe888 https://www.statesman.com/stor...uirement/4881199001/The Lt. Governor (who is the boss of the Senate, and a very powerful politician in Texas) says he'll have a vote in the Senate next week. The outcome is not yet certain.
Contact your Senator, Texans.

Il CattivoYeah, it's interesting. 18 Republican State Senators, 16 Democrat State Senators. All 16 Dems claim they will vote against, but the two from the Valley are under pressure and might actually cave if they hear enough noise from the home crowd.
The Lieut Gov says he therefore needs all 18 Republicans to vote yes - and apparently 6 are for, 6 are likely, and there are still 6 to work on.
Bottom line? One-shot-per-gun fire mission. Contact your state senator's office. Be polite, but be very clear that you want this to pass and that you vote on a regular basis. Then get your friends and neighbors to do the same if you can.

flashguyI just e-mailed my Senator, Sen. Angela Paxton. She is a Republican, so we'll see what happens.

texassierraEither way I'll be glad see them put it to a vote so they're all on the record showing exactly how they feel about this issue.

bigtime977Now it just needs to pass through the house again.

The Senate added amendments to HB 1927, so now the House has to agree to the amendments or the two sides try and reconcile in the middle. Time is not our friend now. Need to call the Speaker of the House and Lt. Gov and ask them to herd their cats!
We don’t need anyone taking a hard line on a single item. We can and will fix it next session, just like TX CHL if we can get it to the Governor.

Then call them up again and start shouting "NO PIECE, NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!" over and over again.

HK AgTexas Residents - Very Important Call To Action - You need to call Rep Matt Schaefer's office (HB 1927 Author) and ask him to concur with the Senate's version of HB 1927. It added some amendments that the Texas Sheriffs wanted, which got the Senate to pass.
Recognize that it is not his pure bill but we like it and can fix it *after* it passes!
If Rep Schaefer does concur ,the house will follow and we will not need to go to a Reconciliation Committee which would risk running out of time.
Thank him for his Bill that restores Texans rights, removed from us from the Civil War reconstruction period by Democrats to impose their racist power over newly freed black Texans.
He will be a hero among Texans if his Constitutional Carry bill as it sits now is passed this session.

Il CattivoHK Ag, I understand your logic, but it's been kinda frustrating trying to find out what supporters of the bill are going to do in a coordinated way. The NRA is, of course, AWOL, and the GOA hasn't said squat since Monday.
Do we collectively tell Schaefer to concur, do we collectively tell Schaefer to stand tough? What in the hell are the bulk of the bill's supporters doing?

IL Cattivo, if Rep Schaefer concurs things go immensely fast and we win. If he holds out for a pure bill we risk running out of time or the Conference Committee makes changes that both sides take issue with.
If Rep Schaefer is happy as bill author the other house members will follow is what I understand.
Note that both the orgs you mention are National, TSRA is only interested in Texas, I follow TSRA lobbyists first.

Il CattivoThat's fine, but if some of the objectionable amendments can be removed in unofficial discussions, then pushing Shaefer will undercut him at the wrong time. Will see what they're saying over at the TSRA; I hadn't heard anything out of them at all on this.

Someone on the floor should ask that representative why she is so familiar with pimps.
